In an ideal world, that would be the case. But you can bet your bottom dollar, a situation nowhere near to the one you have described above will happen in Janurary. I can see us keeping Crouch and Riise for a start. Possibly Momo aswell.

Do you really think Rafa would make that many changes in mid-season. At most he'll bring in someone to cover Riise/CH. That's all.

I think Rafa would have used Arbeloa in some games in the middle and rested Sami if he had any plans to use him in the middle but Sami plays even when he is knackered.

Arbeloa is one of the most disciplined players we have, he carries out instructions to the T. He played centre half for us before and did alright, Arbeloa will never be a regular top class centre half, be he can play there as an emergency centre half if the need arises.

The fact still remains that if need be he can play there. With Sammy and Carra being natural CB's he hasn't had to.

Johnny rockets only has 18 months left on his deal, and Sissoko is now no longer needed. Teams aren't daft, well apart from Spurs, and Villa, and Sunderland have bought a load of ****e for big money, and Fulham......hold on that's 4 clubs daft enough to spend big money on ****e. £30m for them both then.

We have cover for everyone except Agger, Torres and Reina.

Agger is our only ball playing central defender.
Reina is a must for his sweeping ability.
Torres, our only high quality striker.

We can cover for everyone else, including players like Gerrard.

We will be ok as long as everyone don't get long term injuries at the same time. We won the CL the season we got injury after injury. 13 operations if I remember things right.

We could realistically get about £10 million from selling those two. Their value wouldn't be as high as some think.
