I think we need to focus on to quality wingers and better fullbacks. A really good CB cover and another ace striker. In other words, considering the apparent limited funds 17 mill for a midfielder might be OTT?

Momo might, through some sort of deranged miracle, bring us 8/9mill and Carson around 10. The question is whether we should use this money to tie down Mascher or look at solving some of the other problems.

    Ace stirker: 18/20 mill?
    Ace wingers: 35 mill?
    Evra mould fullbacks: 30 mill?
    CB: ?

I just think that 17 mill might be too much considering Alonso and Lucas.

    Am I alone?
Understand where you're coming from mate.

But right now I'm more concerned with us getting rid of the second raters we still have in the squad; Kuyt, Sissoko, Pennant and Riise.

Even selling them and not replacing them would improve us.

I've based my opinion on evidence I've seen with my own eyes.

I could be wrong, I admit that, but at least I've made an informed opinion.

It was reality check for me re Rafa.
Fair enough but please don't make it as if it was a fact, because you sound like AFII when doing that.

In my view, Rafa's evaluates the risks all the time and sees the bigger picture. In terms of the grand scheme of things the match against Marseille was more important as we needed a result ... a win.

The premiership is always recoverable as there are plenty of matches still left to make up ground.

That's hard facts Niall. You can't deny that. He had to win that match and he won it.

Who said anything about the BBC stating that it was a non event? I wish people would let this go now. Last week everyone was going ape about the owners not publicly backing Rafa. Now they have and people still aren't happy. Ridiculous.

Rafa should be judged on his results after G&H have backed him at least three years.

Without Rafa we would probably me a mid table club now fighting for an UEFA Cup place that could only dream about the CL.

Rafa has done a fantastic job in the transfer market if you look at his net spend and the state our squad was in when he joined us.

We can't even compare our spending to Man U and Chelsea. We are together with some other clubs like Aston Villa, Tottenham, Everton, Newcastle, Arsenal, Sunderland, Portsmouth, Man C and West Ham when it comes down to spending.

Consider that before anyone say that Rafa should win the league or at least get very close to stay.

He is doing a fantastic job to even get us close to the top of the table.

Back him and he will deliver quality signings and then we will have a chance to win the league.

Right now we need the money from the CL and that leaves Rafa with little option than to put that before the league. If Rafa wouldn't need the money from the CL then he could put the PL first and CL second, he can't do that now because of our financial situation.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

            Strange eh?
How do you know that they have real links at the club ? Did they tell you that ?

Johnny H has stopped posting info on here because of people having a go at him as for Elisha Scott, Steven gerrard seems his only source of info based on past history as regards our team selections before games.

Just out of interest, why do you say that? When was the last time LFC finished 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th in the league?

Am I going ape ? Have I been moaning about it ??? Please show that to me.

I was just replying to Niall's tongue in cheek comment about some posters in here when he had no argument whatsoever to say what he said.

There's two camps, those who will back the manager and others who will sit on the fence, which seems to be a minority of 5 or 6 posters. The others are moaners and people who just wallow in their negativity.

Personally I think 5 years is enough for people to starting asking questions if we're no where near in the league - it was the same for Houllier really, and Evans before that.

                      The times have changed.

More clubs can spend big now. Look at Everton for example. They have probably spent(net) at least as much as us and the other clubs I mentioned is the same.

Just a few years ago there wasn't a loot of clubs with big spending power, now at least half the league can without any bigger problem spend £20m+ net/season.

A few years ago we spent more than those clubs, we don't do that anymore.

That is the sort of clubs we should fight with if you only look at the net spend.

Then it's down to the manager how he spends the money and how good he is that will decide the table.

Third is the best realistic place for us right now.

Mate that's my main weakness, but I'm just trying to stand my point. I'm sick to the back teeth arguing over and over again and it must be painful for some of you just watching things circling around with no end whatsoever.

Houllier had a good squad when he joined us and less competitive teams to fight it out with, Rafa had to get rid of Houlliers **** players on high wages before he really had a chance to start to build his team.
