When the Yanks took over we were all excited that the playing field would eventually be levelled but we`re still along way short in most positions compared to ManU`s and Chelseas`e multi million pound teams.

La Liga is more forgiving of dropped points, draws when you think you should be winning and more cautious football designed not to lose, rather than to win. So in La Liga, loads of rotation and dropping points as a consequence doesnt do as much harm.

I don't think it is rotation per se that is making us drop points....

I agree that the methodology for winning La Liga and the PL is different.
It is hardly news though.
This difference is what Rafa still has to come to grips with imo, as he is a bit too tactical in a league whose tempo negates some of these tactics.

This for me is the cruxt of it. It's the pace of the league that makes it less tactical, unlike Europe which is slower. We are a slow team, and in Europe which is a slow game it is easy for Rafa to tailor the tactics to succeed. Domestically, it is clear to see from Man U and Arsenal how devestating it is possible to be if you are capable of launching quick counter attacks. In the EPL sophisticated tactics are often obsolete because the game is so quick. If we could play at the pace of Man U and Arsenal, instead of playing so tactically, we'd be right up there.

I think it is lack of quality personnel in key areas that is hurting us the most, not rotation. If we had a quick winger, who was also a goal threat, it would make a massive difference.

Seriously Johnny, has it come to this? That we, LFC, have to buy a title challenge let alone the title. How we derided the Chavs after they bought their 2 league titles. All those banners quoting Greek philosophy about how pride came in knowing that we earned our success.
Here we are, 2 years later, demanding that we buy a title CHALLENGE?

Kev mate, of course other teams are improving too. That's by the by.

But the problem is, i dont think WE are doing as well as WE can. Feck other teams, you can only do the best you're capable of. But as i see it, we're not.

Are we really 15-20 points worse off than the league winners? In terms of our squad and our players? I genuinely dont think so. I think 10 points or less.

But it looks like we'll end up with that kind of defecit again.

I'm not actually going to criticise if it's just a case that the other big 3 are better than us and we actually CANT compete. But i think we can, or at least, we can be a lot better than 15 points or 20 points behind.

We have to do as well as we possibly can and just see where it leaves us.

But we're not, and that's why i'm unhappy.

Look, I want the best man for the job, I want a manger capable of getting our team to achieve it's potentail and not under perform year in year out. If that means Jose Mourinho, then so be it, but there are other managers out there too. You're confusing the fact that I have praised Mourinho's managerial achievements with someone wanting mourinho as our manager.

If ManU and Chelsea have bought Titles in recent yrs then you want a miracle worker to win the league without equal funding.

For every Pennant,Crouch or bellamy we buy they buy a Rooney,Ronaldo,Drogba etc.


How do we compete on the pitch if we can`t buy the same quality players they do.

The three players I mentioned are worth 15-20 points each.

THAT is one of the reasons we hired Benitez. He did exactly that at Valencia c.f. Real and Barce.
