    Equally:

The oil sector's contribution to Dubai's GDP has fallen from 5.4% in 2005 to 5.1% last year, according to a report by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The emirate's non-oil GDP grew by 21% last year

What's this meant to prove exactly, even if they had no oil at all NOW, they would still be vastly more wealthy than our 2 paupers. Also i would trust them to come up with new ways of making money as has already been proven by the Sheiks Forward thinking, something H&G seem unable to do.....THINK.

The fact that it is declining has never been in dispute, it will have run out in less than 20 years time. Hence the move into other areas of industry.

Easy on the trigger there fella.. I was responding to a post which suggested that Dubia is reliant on oil for its income. I was merely pointing out that it is not.

I've no idea if Sheikh Mo is an LFC fan but Godophin(his race horse team) are known as the boys in blue, as their silks are blue.

So he'll either have us playing in blue or get Dettori kitted out in Red.

That is the Hicks model, brand devotion. Winning, what is that?

Makes me just thinking about it
Nah - to make the money for him we have to be in the top 4. He won't make any money with us in 10th place. The sponsorship deals, prize money and TV revenue would be too low.

Whether he cares if we are 4th or 1st though is another matter.

Actually, sponsorship and TV rights are negotiated on the basis of audience size not success.

We know the two are interrelated at least to an extent. I'm just not sure Hicks does. Time will tell I suppose

No-one said they were reliant on oil, but I posted those facts about Dubai as it was claimed that They had no oil which is patently untrue.

So we agree, which is great. What were we talking about again?

I meant the champions league TV pool. You get a bigger share the further you get, don't you? (and obviously you get nothing if you aren't in it.)

Surely he must realise that you won't get as good a sponsorship deal if you are 10th than if you are 4th? Though admittedly, sponsorship is a fairly small part of the picture.
