"Villa and Torres were both outstanding," said Gérard Houllier, the France technical director and former Liverpool manager, who was also in the crowd. "Their partnership is very interesting, the diagonal runs they make are very clever, very exciting. Torres is a wonderful player and he has had an excellent first season at Liverpool. I only wish I'd had the money to buy someone like him there."

- shame really I hate to bash Ged, the treble he brought is in 2001 was superb and the more i think about it, was a very pivotal point in the history of our club. A massive achievement. Tho towards the end i was begging for him to go, he really lost it and i cringed watching him basically lie in so many interviews.
He can have no complaints with regards money tho - the £35m ish he spent on Heskey, Diouf and Ciise for starters - in fact I can't be arsed going into how much money he spunked awayi own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

bizarre comments, esp as, if the story is true, that he wanted to buy Essien for 5mill and then loan him back into obscurity in french football.
but then again, maybe he is on about the ronaldo transfer and Parry arseing about over a million quid which cost us his signature?

They did.Originally posted by Imy View PostHe's part of the reason we're skint.
If only the board had backed Evans in the same way as old Ged.
Scales, Babb, Ince, Berger, McAteer, Friedel, Kvarme, Leonhardsen, Heggem.
And Collymore, which was at the time a British transfer record.
It was just that, as with Houllier, many of them turned out to be fairly useless.
