i was going to mention the carra likeness. kuyt is like a forward carra. what he lacks in finess he makes up with doggedness.

like it or not kuyt is very effective for us. i think his worst point, like babel, is that his first touch is generally piss poor. that makes the rest of his job harder and makes him look clumsier than he really is.

He paid his off his transfer fee in the dyings minutes of the game.

He has saved us a season long session of embarrassment from the rags and other supporters.

He might not be the most gifted player in the world, but what he lacks in skill he more than makes up in workrate. His stamina is unquestionable, at that stage of the game he was still full of running unlike the rest of the team.

Like it or not he gets picked for the team because he trains hard, plays hard for the team and has the right mentality. These are 3 of the main ethics that Rafa wants in players.

Dirk Kuyt thankyou for saving us from a season of ridicule
I don't think last nights poor performance justifies anything other than the fact that Kuyt is a striker, to be played centrally. He got the goal but what did he do before that? How many chances would we have had if we had a decent winger on the right instead of Kuyt?

He had a poor game last night until the final 10 or 20 minutes when he started drifting into the box.

Lets face it, when a team has to play against us with Kuyt on the wing, thats one less thing they have to worry about.

Kuyt is a poor winger, he doesn't posses any of the attributes a quality winger should have, but he should be given a run partnering Torres. He and Keane could share the partnership.

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Ha ha, I love this site.

Nando is ineffectual against Sunderland. Who gets MOTM? Nando, just for scoring the goal.

Gerrard is anonymous against Boro. Who get MOTM? Gerrard. Why? Because he scored the winner and that’s all that counts.

Kuyt doesn’t have the greatest game, but scores the most valuable winner of the lot. Does that matter? No chance, because he’s still ****???

If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

So whats the significance of a MOTM award in the scheme of things?

Kuyt is a poor winger but much more effective when he plays centrally.

1 goal, which hit his shin, and Kuyt is now Pele. FFS.

                        It's not really.

Torres’s goal against Sunderland was a flash of sheer brilliance. A matchwinner doing what he does best - winning a game with a moment of utter class.

Gerrard (WTF – he got MOM???? News to me) scored a less brilliant goal but still it was a great finish into the top corner.

Kuyt shinned one in from 2 yards. Important? Yes. In fact it was massive. Right place right time? Yes. A moment of brilliance? **** no.

Its tongue in cheek... but the point remains.

One goal does not mean that Kuyt has now become a winger in our eyes. Its still a waste of options playing him out wide.

From you maybe but the laughing Red Reet seemed to think he'd made a great point when he hadn't at all.

                                IMO
