I imagine it isn't about that but that being eligible for more games means more opportunities to play at LFC. As it is the number of games he might play in and achieve anything is much reduced. If he had moved he would probably have been first choice and that would have meant more games and could potentially achieve something in what might be his final season (even if that is only the avoidance of relegation for the likes of Stoke).
I can see it from both sides although I do think that the in-fighting at a higher level and the transfer sagas of the summer have had a knock on (negative) impact in the way we have dealt with players already at the club. In many ways it echoes what happened last season when we had a dip of form soon after a good start and many people questioned the morale in the squad.

If I was selecting 3 centre halves for the squad, then I'd have to leave Sami out.

Agger, Skrtel and Carragher are both better than Sami at the moment, even factoring in experience.

It does seem weird, I remember before he signed his contract that he said he would be happy to play when he was needed and wouldnt go banging on the managers door if not selected. It sounded like he would have been happy enough to stay at Liverpool no matter what.
Also doubt he would go to the newspapers before speaking to the manager himself, he seems to be far to much a pro to go down that line.
Any Finnish people on here who have watched the interview?
