players that could walk into any team in the world
I love Skrtel, but he makes almost a mistake per game, when he lunges in instead of staying on his feet.
A defender's job IS to defend, but a couple of defenders can do that AND offer something useful going forward. Skrtel's class, but he's nowhere near at the level to be in a 'World XI'.
For the record, my team:
Buffon
Lahm Ferdinand Ramos Evra
Mascherano
Kaka Gerrard
Ronaldo Messi
Torres
Grudgingly agree Skrtel is not there yet, but he has the potential to one day be considered good enough to walk into any side, his performances so far since joining and then playing in a league like ours have been excellent, so far so very good, and will imo get better.

He does that quite often, but almost every time he gets the ball, sort of like masch. he is a fantastic defender, and he almost never gets the praise he deserves. had he signed for utd. or chelsea, he'd be considered as one of the top 5 defenders in europe!
don't know what the fuss is about Ramos though, he's an average RB, and a ****e CB, or maybe it's just that i don't like him

I totally agree that Skrtel has been great and as i said, i love the fella, brilliant signing.
From that to 'world class' is a bit of a jump though and as things stand, he's not there. He'll get there though, i'm sure. He's only young still, dont forget.
CM - Xavi or Ballack - a dillema here, the team would need Ballack's height at set pieces, and could benefit from Xavi's game inteligence - i'd go with Ballack
AT LAST! I was just about to post about my surprise at a discussion about world XIs (with some including subs) and not a single mention for Xavi...until now.
He wouldn't get in my XI but he'd be on the bench for sure.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
Liverpool fans will always underrate Ferdinand and Terry, but they are the most complete CB's out there. There aren't any defenders in Spain or Italy who match their ability and the consistency of their performances.
Put any stopper next to Ferdinand and the mancs will cope. Vidic is good but he isn't that good. Take Ferdinand out of their team and you'll immediately see the difference. He's the most complete defender out there, like it or not.
I'd pick Terry ahead of Carvalho any day of the week. There are plenty of good, tough tackling CB's in the mould of Carvalho, but find me a CB more dominating in the air than John Terry. Find me someone who's got a better positional sense than he's got.
Yeah, they're both horrible cunts, but they're world class cunts. End of.
