yup, some nice bit of skill for the drag back and shot, and also was a bit unlcuky when his control let him down in the box when his first touch got him a bit of space, but also he was very nervy and clearly wasnt up to the job tasked to him.

More gametime and experience will do him the world of good.

The lack of touch and composure you can put down to nerves, but he so far hasn't competed in any of the games he's played.

Easily knocked off the ball, and can not (will not) compete in the air.

I think he needs a good run in the reserves to toughen him up a bit, and improve confidence.

No wonder Keane was a bit miffed. I was too.
I agree with the first seven words.

What I find ironic is that people want us to give young players a chance and then if they don't instantly light up the pitch with dazzling skill they get criticised for any minute flaw.

He was fine when he came on. I actually thought he handled his role better than Keane did.

He was unlucky when he controlled the ball in the box and it caught his back leg, I have seen Torres do that before where the ball just doesn't bounce right.

Showed some good glimpses I thought, and probably help him the long run having that run out and seeing what it is all about so to speak.

I'm a bit confused about why people are saying he should have passed to Kuyt when he had that shot toward the end. From what I saw there were two defenders in between him and Kuyt so the pass simply wasn't on. I think in the split second he had to decide he made the right choice.

                  Totally agree. Schizophrenic.

I too thought he did well. Not very happy with Keane, me.

Exactly - I agree with that. He caused more problems than Keane did in the whole 75/80 mintues he was on the pitch. This guy has a bright future. He is technically a very good player. He was unfirtunately played out on the wing for PSG and this probably hindered his development last year. At least Rafa is using him as a striker. And those that saw Ngog in pre season will know that he could potentially become a devastating player.

What would help him is more first team games/minutes. He should be a permanant fixture on the bench and ideally picking up experience regularly.

On a side note when's Nemth back? out of all our strikers he's the one that looks like they can make an impact at first team level.
                      We come not to play.

                        Not me.

They should only play if they are ready. There is only one way to find out though, and that is to take a chance on them sometimes. I just don't last night was the time to do it.

Keane was having a good game, so there was no need to take him off for a rookie.
                        Oh I don't know.

I don't think Keane was doing that well, certainly wasn't looking in imminent danger of breaking the deadlock. We looked like we would benefit from some pace to get behind them. It was a sound gamble if you ask me.

I really think it was exactly the sort of nothing really to loose scenario when giving a player a chance is a good idea.

Exactly what i was going to say, Kuyt looked to be free after Ngog had taken the shot, especially cos he out stretched his arms and complained about not recieving it, but if you watch the replay Kuyt was standing behind two defenders when Ngog turned his man so the shot was the best option

Personally I think Kuyt should be playing up top. Him and Torres would work a treat IMO. When given a crack up front he scores.
