Scored from the right wing against Spurs. To be fair the fact is that unlike most of our midfield players he contributes goals from the deeper positions. I'd rather add a goal threat to the team than move one around and at present none of the other options for the right convince me any more than Kuyt in this regard."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I've got no problem with N'gog, I just don't understand why Rafa bought him. I mean we have Nemeth (when fit) ripping up the reserves and he can't get a look in and Rafa goes and spends money on N'gog

To be fair Nemeth has been injured all season, so it's difficult to say whether he would have got a look in or not. I deffo think Rafa rates him, but I also think Rafa is prepared to throw as many players into the mix as possible in the hope that at least one will make it. Let's face it, if he gets N'gog for very little and when put up against Nemeth he over-performs and keeps Nemeth out of the first team, then hell, we have a pretty damn good player. If N'gog is about as good as Nemeth then, as the theory goes, Nemeth will work harder to prove he's better than N'gog and so by the time one or the other reaches first team standard they will be better than they were if the other was not there.Originally posted by Red Chilli View PostI've got no problem with N'gog, I just don't understand why Rafa bought him. IMO I'd rather Nemeth was competing against N'Gog than Brouwer. No?The Crushing Machine MKII

I might buy that actually.... but who plays on the right then?Originally posted by Sarb24 View PostPersonally I think Kuyt should be playing up top. Him and Torres would work a treat IMO. When given a crack up front he scores.I could not dig, I dared not rob:

That would require a significant outlay of money....something we don't have.Originally posted by Sarb24 View PostBuy a proper right winger. Reira has made a big difference. A left winger on the left
Its all good making these fantasy suggestions, but we are doing fine with how things are. Kuyt plays well on the right, Riera plays well on the left. Torres and Keane just need time to form a partnership. Making changes will only confuse things."When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah

But as we all know we were virtually qualified prior to that game I don't see the problem with him playing. Worst case scenario is we end up 2nd in reality. so it was hardly a massive risk. Better him play in that situation than in the Prem where we have to win every game.
What I would add is that there are players better than him in the reserves more deserving of a spot on the bench, but with Torres out we have a shortage of strikers.
Playing him in a dead rubber, once we have qualified for the next round in the CL would make far more sense.
In someways, this parallels Leto last season. He seemed to play a lot in Europe early on, but then was dropped to the reserves as it became clear he was not ready yet.Oh I don't know.

Was he not only allowed to play in Europe due to not having a work permit?Originally posted by dom9 View Post
