As for the comments by Exiled Red and many on here, I would say that you would all be suprised if Hammill was to get game time for us. I would like to ask you the last time an attacking player from the prem went on loan to a lower league club and did the business. I'm sure there are more but I can only think of Defoe who scored in about 9 games in a row for Bournemouth, setting a league record.
And I must remind you that a lot of talented players have been on loan in past years. Before I get started as to why I will tell you Hammill's biggest problem - for three years running he has been playing for teams who are absoloute rubbish in their respective leagues. Hammill is what you would call a flair player, and these players are the first ones sacrificed in a relegation battle, especially when the player in question is a kid who had not filled out properly.
It's also a well known fact that players improve with their surroundings, so they will obviously never fully develop in the Championship. The fact that fills me with promise about Hammill, is that everytime he has been in a game of high importance he has excelled. A storming goal against Celtic is well documented, as are his majestic performances on the cup run in. Less well known is his MOTM performance and goal for Blackpool against their big rivals Preston this year.

I remember hearing that the reason Hammill got sent on loan being the same reason Babel can not get a game at present. No doubt about his attacking abilities, but they questioned his desire to get back and work for the team. I am now hearing that this problem has been ironed out of his game. At this point in time Hammill could well have stayed at Blackpool, so no doubt he has been recalled to see if what Rafa has heard about the lad is true. Basically he is being given a chance in training to show what he can do.
From seeing his big game mentality I have no doubt that he will impress Rafa and may well get a chance against Preston. And like Rage I will pin my colours to the mast and say if this lad gets a chance he could well make a lot of people eat their words.
Unlike rage though I will say this is down to clever development by Rafa and that only now is he ready to be considered potential first team.
