ifs and buts and yes we had torres out for 13 games, chelsea had essien out for a long time too.

i dont think this will be our best chance ever......we have improved every year since Rafa has got here and i see no reason why next season will be any different. THe reality is if you would have been asked if you would take this position before the season started, I would have bitten your hand of. We are work in progress, progressibely getting better.......i am very confident we will win it in the next couple of seasons.

City have to buy big, god knows if they will gel or not
Chelsea, will drogba stay under new manager, who will that be? will he more scolari than hiddink?
Scum.....roncuntface will be off imo and 30million on berba has hardly helped they need a couple of new players and they seriously are wobbling at mo
Arsenal.....need steel and a couple of old heads, but they have needed that for 3 years!!

Ha ha, I know what I said, but I failed to notice the relevance, especially 3 or 4 posts later. Think you are running out of straws here Pal.

we are top yeah but lets face it things cant go on like this
we are if you like top by default - the league may not lie but we are just about hanging on in there
Clearly not 'are we' in this particular example...
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Do people really think you can fluke a 38-game league campaign? Dear lord.
It’s open to interpretation as to what people think deserve means Craig. If United win the league, it’s hard to argue that they don’t deserve it because they have accumulated the most points and by the rules of the competition are crowned Champions.

What is debatable is how they got the points, and did they deserve them? I suppose if you look at 2006 Serie A, by the end of the season Juve had won the most points, but did the actual team fully earn them? Obviously I’m not accusing United of bribing officials, but how many points have they possibly gained as a result of favourable decision from the FA, officials or even friends of Fergie (not an accusation of mine, just a possibility), as opposed to going out and playing great football. Even the most ardent United supporter will confess they have hardly been convincing this year.

I know you think things even themselves out over the course of the season and admittedly we’ve had our fair share of luck too, but this premise isn’t written in stone and things don’t necessarily always work out this way. Obviously some people clearly think that this is the case this year.

Me personally, I still think it’s too early to call who deserves to be champions.

Who knows, come the Summer we could be in the strongest position financially, and tbh our team only needs tweaking now rather than a major overhaul.

This season has taught us a lot and the players will be far far better for it next season. Don't forget that when ManUtd won the league after 26 years and they had nearly won it the previous season before being pipped by Leeds.

Of course the team with the most points deserves to be champions.

However, if Utd do end up winning the league i think they will be one of the worst championship winning teams in living memory. Obviously they've got loads of good players etc but they've rarely turned it on this year and only occasionally beat teams convincingly.

in fact i think most neutrals both want us to win it and will rememeber our performances most this season

I was indeed referring to IF they go on to win it.

And whilst i agree that in some cases you get points when you dont deserve them, it works both ways too. Sometimes you get less than you deserve. And it works the same way for all clubs.

All things said and done, i find it hard to make an argument that says anyone other than the league champions deserve to have won it.

Whoever wins the league deserves it. End of story, no debating that the style of football wasn't good enough or that because they won 27 games 1-0 they should have points docked for being boringly consistant.
No whinging over decisions, yes Utd get more than their fair share, we used to as well.

We will win the league next season (even if we don't nick it this year)
We have a settled squad, Torres surely to god can't miss more games we have the most stability for years Utd's team has been shown up, if they overhal it it'll take time to gel, if they don't then it won't be good enough next year, Van der Sar is dogey, Ferdinand more injury prone Scholes and Giggs will have less and less impact.
Chelsea will have a new manager, new ideas, new playing style, new players that all takes time to bed in, Arsenal will always be Arsenal, look great, play amazing football but ultimately fall short, if the don't win the CL it'll be 4 or 5 years without one, how long will Fabregas hang around, Van Persie has already come out and said he won't sign unless they start to win trophies.

This season we have scored 4 goals in a single game against the other 'big 3', we are unbeaten in the 'mini league' Gerrard was talking the other night about how the belief and confidence has shot up, how they now know about the pressure and have proved to themselves they can live with it and deliver.
Football moves in cycles, Man U's dominance is coming to an end and we are about to reclaim our rightful place at the top table.

                            Now stop bickering and believe.
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

                              I think so!

They are much less convincing than last year or the 99/2000/01 team. Hopefully Tevez and Ronaldo will leave this summer while we bring a classy winger!
