he came on last night and looked sharp apart from his 2 fluffed goal attempts.

he will come good but not on the left.

he looked for the ball, marked improvement from saturday just needs to add skill, vision, brain and we have the makings of a great footballer

i think he looks uncomfortable on the left and should be played more centrally. You dont play for one of the best clubs in world football and one of the top european countries if you dont have a brain.

He is clearly talented but wasted on the left. Why not play him behind torres and gerrard back in the middle. Lets see what happens, but to sign a player and have him declare in his first press conference that he prefers to play as a striker but will do a job on the left and then play him exclusively on the left is not fair to the boy.

He is improving and that's clear - im certain he will be a decent (if not truly world class) footballer for us.

Babel was certainly part of the reason, he was absolute toilet again when he came on last night.

I actually felt Reira should have been brought on at half time, Benayoun and Kuyt were making us far to narrow.

Did anyone blame Babel for the Spurs defeat? I didn't see that. Babel can't play football, he has nothing to offer the team and he's incredibly lazy which is the worst aspect of his game. If he made an effort people wouldn't be so critical. I think two years is sufficient time to judge his ability and his workrate - we need to get rid of him whilst there's a chance we might still get a few quid for him.

Babel wasn't "at fault" in us losing to Spurs, however his completely **** performance didn't help the team and when Benayoun came in he did much better. He's done things Babel would have never been able to do and that makes him a better player. Benayoun is better than Babel. Simples.

Two poor collective team performances were the cause of our two defeats, as well as our most important player (Gerrard) having two of the most atrocious games I've ever seen him play.

But all of that doesn't change the fact that Babel has been ranging from ****, complete **** and utter dog **** in the last year, so maybe people are losing patience with him while willing to forgive our class players who've been putting in good performances week in week out and appear to suffer from a dip in form.

I think he can't be bothered, I'd be supporting him 100% if I saw effort but once again I saw him give the ball away then not bother to chase and win it back, he was brought on at 3-1 down so you would think would be busting a gut to impress but he never seems to put in the effort and application.
Sheer hard work from Kuyt won a lot of doubters (me included) over when he was going through a rough patch but Babel is neither hard working or a luxury.
At the moment he is just plain **** and I would go as far as to say Dossena does a better job on the left wing
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Well done Mr Cheerleader, but if someone has a problem with a player then the forum is the ideal place to let off steam. Support them at the match but let your feelings be known on the internet - nothing wrong with that.

Back to the original poster though, essentially what you are saying is:

"Don't blame Babel......he may be ****.........but so are the rest of our team!!"

                      ha ha

After the Spurs game I read through a lot of the post match thread and Ryan Babel threads and the general feeling amongst a lot of people was that Liverpools ****e attacking display had all been down to Babel being ****. And that the reason LFC suddenly became so good was because Babel was taken off for Yossi.

I argued that the improvement was down To Spurs sitting back and no longer pressing us. This was dismissed. I argued that the real reason are team had not been good enough was a problem in centre midfield. This was dismissed. In fact I was told by a lot of people that Lucas had been one of the best players on the pitch.

I said at the time Babel did not have a good game, but that he did no worse than anyone else and that the problem was elsewhere.

I would be interested to know if people still feel we lost against Spurs because Ryan Babel was rubbish and that we would have won had Yossi started.
We lost against Spurs because they totally bossed our midfield.

Spurs sat back the final 15 min and allowed us to play.
They gave our midfield room to play ball, unlike earlier in the game.
                          Babel or no Babel.

Babel is still **** though. No football brain. Sell sell.

We lost to Spurs because the team played ****e, we lost last night because the team played ****e, Babel wasn't the sole reason we lost at Spurs but part of the collective reason.

Babel is a waste of spunk though. His mum should have swallowed him.

unfortunately until aquilani is fit or gerrard is moved back into the centre we will be losing many more midfield battles.

You know what you get with masher and his game is not about opening up the opposition, but its lucas who should be trying to do that. Again, its probably not fair to blame lucas because he isnt good enough to play at this level. We need to apportion the blame to the management team who put him into the middle.

I remember Le Tallec once said that the best player in training by a mile was vladimir smicer but unfortunately he couldnt produce it on a regular basis in the real games. Lucas may well be a fab player in training and be able to show his skill that has benitez wanking over himself but training isnt playing for against real opposition.

The opposition dont have to do a lot to work us out and that makes us easier to play against.
