    Anfield minus 1000 seats

1,000 seats at Anfield, the home of English soccer club Liverpool, will be converted into a corporate area as the club's owners, Tom Hicks and George Gillett, seek to maximise revenues from the stadium while they remain unable to finance a move to a new ground.

The plans, first reported in The Guardian newspaper, would significantly increase the club's matchday revenues, one of the key targets of the club's management. The club's matchday revenues totalled £39.2 million last season, according to Deloitte, while, by comparison, Manchester United earned £101.5 million and Arsenal £94.6 million. Even Chelsea, like Liverpool seeking a move to a new stadium, earned £74.5 million.

Either that or ramp up standard ticket prices - this is the best way to increase match day revenue if you ask me.

Nah, I think building a new stadium is better.

We knew it anyway, but this stands out like a sore thumb that no new stadium will be built.

Or it strikes me as a stop gap measure to increase revenue in the short term, until the financial market has settled down again and we can get cracking on the stadium front...all depends on your viewpoint and pessimism.

If they are willing to install these boxes it is more proof that the new ground is not getting built.

                            They aren't installing boxes.

How does charging people more money for seats mean that no stadium will be built?
