I'd also find it quite surprising if Aurelio was one of those who have lost faith in Benitez, seeing the long history the two have together.

I can't see Aurelio having a go. He plays most of the time he is fit, he even plays him out of position to get him on the pitch!!

not so much horrible nasty benitez as ****ing frustrating benitez. he does this to players before and i dont like it. it stinks of lack of man management.
Is this the same Insua that 99% of posters on est1892 were up in arms about last year because he wasn't getting enough games, and that he was our LB answer??? Maybe Rafa gave in to pressure and that's why Insua is getting a run......I think that proves Rafa knows a bit more than us about the players. What a joke some you "contributors" are!

take off the tinted specs and have a goo look at insua. having never really seen him in any reserve game i was quite excited about him coming through but he has been the worst player in our back line. he is scared to take possession of the ball and as a result plays quick passess to team-mates who are in no position to receive. rafa is sticking by him with blind faith because thats the kind of managers he is with his "favourites". IMO insua is not the answer and is a liability........as his and the teams showings of late prove.

What are they ****ing doing then! Pass and Move, it's a simple game, we've not moved since Evans. Too many ball watchers, not making meaningfull runs.

I think Insua looked good at the start of the season and when given a chance last season. the dip in team form has affected him badly. He could possibly do with being withdrawn from the team as he is a young player but at the same time we need a settled back four.

I think that both Insua and Lucas suffer at the minute as they are players who thrive on being able to give short sharp passes and moving to create the next movement and currently a lack of other players confident enough to work like that is hurting them. Added to the fact I personally feel that when we are deep having Mascherano, Lucas and Kuyt in midfield makes our movements too predictable and lacking in pace or forward momentum.

Bollix we have played some amazing football at times over the Rafa years problem has been consistency

That is true but this season less than ever before and our ugly football has been less effective

I kind of feel that Rafa always looks to set up the team to maximise what would happen if we played well - the problem being that if the set up under performs then it can be a bit of a disaster. More conservative management might get better consistency at times.

I wonder whether Rafa sticks to Lucas - Mascherano as an axis as he can see that between them they are secure in possession and offer a good and flexible shield to the defense. The problem is that for that to result in a good overall team the fullbacks have to usefully bring the ball out of defense and the centre backs be solid in the air and midfield that gives progressive movement and is willing and able to deal with short quick passes and sometimes being under pressure (see for example Barcelona and the way Xabi and Iniesta often take the ball). At the minute none of those parts are consistently happening and so we are suffering. The question is should Rafa have changed earlier to a way of playing that was more suitable in the short term?

You're missing my point completely. My point is, regardless of whether Insua is crap or not, those that are having a go at rafa for not picking insua last year are the same ones having a go because he IS picking him now!
Generally people seem to think that Dossena is a **** left back, aurelio's not much better and insua's no good either. Bearing in mind we don't have a pot to piss in (which isn't rafa's fault), what's the solution?

not being one of those who was calling for insua to be playing to start with, to me the answer is simple.....aurelio. he is composed, good with the ball at his feet and has a wicked delivery on him. dossena has in the games he has played this year been a lot better than what he was and as such he would also IMO be a good replacement for insua at this time where the argentinian kid isn't performing and should be dropped for his own good.

It's not surprising. Benitez has made some horrific decisions during the season especially in player recruitment and his stubbornness will cost him fourth spot.

So Kingfunk, you calling someone a "spa" is the same as Nicey calling someone a douchebag with a batch of smilies?
