I've been waiting for a tipping point, the moment that comes to people/teams who've been under sustained pressure and suffering for form because of it.

It's the moment when they realise, not sure if realise is the right word, but it's the moment when the fact that it's been so bad and can't get any worse dawns on them, whether consciously or sub-consciously i don't know, and they are able to then brush off their inhibitions, control their nerves, relax, and play football nearer or at the level they capable of.

Hope we are seeing that moment now.

Molby was saying on 5 Live that he was trying to do too much rather than keeping it simple. It would make sense when you are trying to bed in to keep it simple, get used to the pace etc, but at the same time you can tell he is eager to impress and add some flair to the team. I reckon he'll come good.

Even thought Aquilani may not have played his best, his presence improved our performance because he provided good movement and pace through the middle thus allowing us to move the ball around quicker and find spaces. Gerrard was being man-marked but you wouldn't have thought so watching him find the space he did

            Good result and well played.

I think this season will be the most exciting in recent years. The top three will (rightly) get the most attention but I expect the scrap for fourth place to have lots of twists and turns before the season ends. Rafa, Lee, Gerrard and Carragher must keep the whole squad together and focused.

            Our next three Prem games:

            Saturday, 6 February 2010
            Liverpool v Everton, 12:45

            Wednesday, 10 February 2010
            Arsenal v Liverpool, 19:45

            Sunday, 21 February 2010
            Man City v Liverpool, 15:00
            Another MASSIVE game

I don't think it's a confidence issue so much as him not being used to English game, and recovering from injury. After being out for so long it's bound to take him a while to get back to to top form especially in a new team.

Good enough performance - thought Insua was MoM. SG played well too. Some very good moves but Ngog and Aqualani (good knock back for the goal mind) look very poor at times - not PL standard even. Worrying. Great to see Riera back. Three clean sheets in a row though and undefeated in 6 I think - onwards and upwards..

I think its because their relative performances were so good, Kyrgiakos is pretty limited but he does everything with such conviction that against a limited attack with little pace or subtlety like today he stands out at the back.

Insua's been in a bit of a dip the past month or two but he was excellent today, some wicked crossing and real drive taking players on.

The best footballers on the park were obviously Masch and Gerrard, but both of them can play better still, and have done quite regularly in the past, so they stand out less in a game like that one.

As for Aquilani, I really don't think we're going to see a great deal from him until next season. I just hope he stays fit and uses the next few months to really feel his way into the English game. On the evidence of today, and the last month or so, I have to say I'd be playing Lucas instead right now in the big games. I thought he had a really good cameo, and the moaning at the substitution in the match thread turned out to be rather off the mark.

It didn't though, we were in good control for the most part and we should have scored more. Krygiakos just won everything that came near him though, he completely stifled Davies' game with his strength, preventing them actually attacking rather than having to constantly cut out their attacks. Insua was good because of the way he attacked, same with Mascherano and Kuyt and Gerrard where giving their back line plenty of problems too.

Kryiagkos is an absolute bargain at £1.5 mill. He is really impressive against physical teams.

It was a good performance today considering the form we are in.

Happy to see us finally managing to stand firm in a match where we where not leading comfortably for a long time. We didn't panic and got the ball working and that we haven't seen for 6 months now.

Very good to see Gerrard being so influential again, hope his spirit is getting back where it should be now, that would mean the world to us.

and saved us with a clearing of the line at a crucial time, I was really afraid we would fall apart if they scored at that point.

David Fairclough today when Kyriagkos took a bang in the face in the closing minutes "At least he hasnt got to worry about affecting his looks"
