I think the last 16 or last 8 are realistic achievements. I think when CL teams get into it we will struggle.

I think there were problems but I don't think using two 'defensive' midfielders was the problem. When it was Alonso and Mascherano it was an excellent axis for the team. I think we lacked an added goalscorer (my preference would have been from midfield). Last season at the start of the season Lucas was played higher up the pitch and I think it is hard to describe him as then being a defensive midfielder. From my point of view we had a pretty varied set of tactics especially against the lesser teams and the worst performance last season was against Wigan with Gerrard and Lucas in central midfield.

His tactics were not perfect but in general I don't think there was the systematic tactical flaws that some claim. I do think we needed better quality and consistency in our players. If there is blame it should be on a combination of his inability to bring that in and the fact his methods seem to have a high wear rate on players.

So predictions, we get out manager halfway through july. By then most clubs will have bought who they want and we get stuck with deadwood or sell off good players for much less then they should be.

          Brilliant.
          .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Like i said, i have no idea why they were there.

What time was his flight? Maybe he was flying out in the afternoon?

Maybe he wasnt even at the training ground, and they were there for something else.

I read last week that if he hadn't been confirmed as boss prior to flying out to South Africa he would turn the job down. Wonder if this is the case?

                              From Pellegrini's Wikipedia page:

He was sacked by (Real Madrid) on 26 May 2010. Pellegrini is expected to meet with representatives of Liverpool Football Club on June 18th 2010 to discuss the possibility of taking over the vacant managerial post at Anfield. Although he said Hicks is a knob and doesnt want to work for him. [7]
