I think the bottom line is that he'd only be happy to go on terms that are mutually agreed and part of that would be that he'd want a decent payoff, sacked or not?

I still got the feeling we're stuck with Rafa and have to give him a last chance ... maybe he'll surprise us all.

I honestly think this is the best option for us. It wouldn't surprise me if he did manage to get an improvement out of us next season. The problem is that in the medium term we seem to have no financial plan even if he did manage it.

The present ownership is going to be a huge problem going forward. I have been willing to give them a chance but at this stage it is clear that they have no plan of how to take the club forward from here and are now a real mill stone around the clubs neck. They have done some good things on the business side of the club but they don't have the will or possibly the money to bail us out while the financial climate is bad meaning that we are losing ground on our rivals constantly while they look to gain bigger profits on our sale. All articles around seem to indicate that Hicks simply likes high stakes gambling no matter how it goes for him and at the minute while his investment is losing value he is able to give himself a nice wage so I doubt he is really hurting that badly.

How about this, someone who:

- has Premiership aspirations
- will be available soon
- has European ambitions
- is used to operating within tight "budgets"
- is a big "Reds" fan

Only thing, as Neil said that I would fear is that if things went drastically wrong it would tarnish his legendary status.

We dont have new owners,nobody knows when,if ever, we will have therefore we are best to stick with Rafa if he'll stay because there is simply nobody better out there right now who'd take us on in our current state and guarantee to improve us.

If he does leave though I'd take Kenny as caretaker till we get new owners rather than appoint O 'Neill or Hodgson permanently

Nor has he a rich history of selling football clubs,especially ones where the current owners want to be paid a premium in respect of "future" profits the club might earn.He might not have time to waste but one day a week for a right few quid is a bit too tempting to turn down I reckon

he hasnt sold us yet so lets wait till he does before deciding the managers future,then everyone can make an informed decision based on all the facts and circumstances as they are at that time

I'd like Kenny for nostalgic reasons and I think he'd instantly command the respect of the players.

Plus it appears that if you hold a great affection for a manager you will forgive whatever shortcomings are served up on a matchday. I've never had great affection for Rafa and thus was one of the first to have reservations about him, whereas those that hold him in high regard are loyal even now.

So even if it all went wrong with Kenny I'd be more than likely to forgive him.

if rafa was to go id go for the king in until we find a decent replacement. Seeing King Kenny back would raise us up after this **** season then he could hand over the reigns at christmas

Because I dont believe either O'Neill or Hodgson are good enough for this club or have more ability than him so if we want someone who knows the British game inside out and has a terrific understanding or LFC then why not Kenny,IMO he certainly command more respect from our players than O'Neill or Hodgson.

I'd like to think with Purslow and Broughton on the wage bill, we will have a replacement sorted if and when.


I'm sure Sammy could hold the fort, without having to dig up ex legends.
