Well, it's a start, and we have to start somewhere. It's probably a good thing that he is not a Liverpool supporter as he can be objective. At that level of business, his Chelsea allegiances go out the window. Great that we are now up for sale - we cannot do any worse than we did last time out. Ideally, we'd get one rich guy who wants to be affiliated with the prestige that owning Liverpool brings. If I had £30b... For me, this nearly makes this season's shambles worthwhile. Can you imagine the players we could get if someone of the Man City owner's ilk came in? A new stadium, Ribery, Silva, Villa, Milner (yes!), Mata and, why not, Messi The off-field speculation page would be the busiest on the site

How the hell does Tiff Needell go from driving fast cars to becoming Chairman of LFC?

Surely he doesnt care either way. his job ends once the club is sold, does it not?

The only thing he is interested is in getting the best price? That may not mean whats best for the club or the fans, but for the Yanks pockets?

he has been brought in to do a certain job.

it wont be whats best for the fans. it will to be to get the best price for the owners once certain conditions are met.

no matter what happens he have no idea if we will get better owners what we do know is that these two wont be welcomed back so lets move on

One thing that i havent seen mentioned, is the notion that this fella's been appointed by H&G's creditors, as a condition of giving them 6 more months to get a better price for the club, than they would've got if the banks had taken control. Furthermore, i dont think it was preferable for the banks to have taken control directly, at this moment in time, just before a general election and what-not.

IMO, this guy was the best of two undesired options for the yanks - either allow the banks to appoint this guy to sell the club for whatever price he sells it - or the banks take control, sell for £240m to recoup their debt, and the yanks walk away with nothing.

Nobody would be daft enough to pay £600m or anywhere near that, because they dont have to - this sale process can last upto 6 months and the longer it goes, the more likely G&H's asking price drops.

I reckon he is related to Trevor Brooking - sounds just like him anyway!

He knows the spotlight is on him and if he fails he will forever be remembered for this (failure). Fingers crossed he doesn't fail then. I doubt that at this stage of his life/career he would want to put his whole reputation on the line, so I have faith in his confidenc of finding the right buyer.

In truth, i dont see how he CAN fail.

His remit is to find a new owner - there's tonnes of interested parties out there.

G&H will want a price, but if that price is not forthcoming, they'll have little choice but to sell - or wait 6 months, for the creditors to take control and sell the club from under them.

If this happens, the banks will only be interested in recouping the debt value - under £250m, so G&H will walk away with no profit. However, if G&H accept an offer, even of just £300m, they'll still walk away with some £60m odd in profit. What would they rather do?

My only fear is that it does take the full 6 months or thereabouts to sort out - that would take us beyond the transfer deadline and mean that we wouldnt be able to strengthen the squad until January 2011. However, this fear is offset by the fact that the longer the process takes, the less profit G&H are likely to make from the deal.

                  Just a thought.

Say we have 50m as a transfer budget for the time being until a takeover happens. Rafa lines up say David Villa or Silva for say 30m. Agrees the wages etc. Chelsea are also after them. Broughton who may be privy to that information tells Roman, too bid an extra 'x' million and increase wages by 'x' %. Our target goes to Chavs same for 'kids' that are lined up

I dont think potential transfer targets are anything to do with Broughton.

Maybe, but he will be privy to the dealings of the club. He could well be a double agent KGB working for the Russian

BA handled their strikes extremely well.

Why will he be? It doesnt concern him at all. He's there to sell the club - that's all. Purslow is still running the club.

Broughton is not at Liverpool on a sabotage mission or to work as Roman's inside man. If he had any conflict of loyalties regarding Chelsea then he simply wouldn't have taken the job.
