To be honest, given some of your posts on this topic, it's clear that you'll use anything as a potential stick to beat him with. You may not be happy with the appointment, but it's not Hodgson's fault, so i dont see the need to keep attacking him.
Simply pointing out he is a capable liar, I won't hide my disdain of his appointment, good liars are what the owners are so its no surprize they have chosen one...

The team endured a difficult season last term, losing 19 games and going out of all the cup competitions very early. What are your ambitions for this season?

I don't think any of the players or staff wants anything other than a successful Liverpool year and we want to hit the ground running. You can't do more than work for that. There's no point throwing out empty promises. Words are words and actions are actions and we have to show by our actions first of all on the training field and then at Anfield and other stadiums that we're ready and good enough. That's my task, to work with the players and ensure we are good enough.

He would have looked a right plonker if Dalglish and Purslow had then decided to appoint another candidate.
          We come not to play.

My mate said that the senior players had been consulted despite what balalgue had claimed. They all knew it was going to be hogdson and they all backed him.

From the echo live feed whatever thingy...

Dan Kay: Graham Agg - There were rumours that Carragher & Gerrard were consulted about the appointment. One question, if true, why??

DK: As you'd expect of the captain and vice-captain of LFC, they were kept abreast of developments as is common practice at most big football clubs. But there were not asked to sanction or approve Roy Hodgson's appointment - just consulted

DK: Stevie's damned if says something and damned if he doesn't. He's fully endorsed Roy's appointment and understandably this isn't a day for him to be expected to address his own future

The reason he's got a three year contract - well as he's 62 it will take him to the retirement age

On that basis, they could've chosen anyone involved in the football industry.

If you think doing what Hodgson did, and keeping confidential discussions out of the media is rare, then you're not watching football goings-on very closely.

You took your first steps into management at a time when Liverpool began to dominate Europe - did you watch the likes of Bob Paisley closely and pick up anything that helped you as a manager?

What we picked up was the Liverpool style. On paper it was a relatively simple style but in actual fact simplicity is the hardest thing to achieve. Working in Sweden, as I was at the time, they were all very impressed with the quality of the passing, the quality of the movement, the way players were always available for each other. Of course the quality of the players they produced at that time, firstly Toshack and Keegan and then Dalglish and Rush, and then the great partnerships at the back with Smith, Thompson, Hansen and Lawrenson; we were brought up on that. When I was at Malmo I brought a group of coaches over and Bob Paisley was great. Graeme Souness was the coach but Bob was still around at Melwood and I remember having a cup of tea with him. He was a really interesting man to meet. You can never turn the clock back and live those times again, but it would be nice if we could fashion an image again which in some way represents what these people pioneered so many

No because by then the retirement age will have risen to 68

IF it had been someone like Jose or Guus, i'm sure their response would have been similar in the same situation...would you call either of them a good liar, show disdain and proclaim that it's no surprise the yanks chose him?

Given that the majority of us fans reckon that we could manage the club ourselves (every fan's dream), i don't see Roy as that bad a candidate...and if we were looking to go English, as some reports suggest (not sure why, but it may have been the case) then I guess that Roy is the best of that bunch??
