100% against lucas up untill mid way through last year and i am happy to say he has pissed all over my doubts. not a world beater and prob never will be but a good squad player and when mash goes will become more important to us. i say keep him and i'm happy to hear him say he wants to stay.People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

Lucas didnt play anywhere near as well as Mascherano last season. Not nearly.Originally posted by Mike View PostBased on last seasons performances alone, i would of played him over Mascherano, he played better out of the two.
A lot of people on here dont rate him too highly, what they fail to realise is just how much he improved last season.
He was one of our best players last season. If he carries on improving at the rate he did last season he could be a very useful player.

Do you think him and Aquilani would work well together if given the time to gel?
Lucas's short passing average is generally good, while if Aqui can get his long passes away well we could have quite a formidable partnership there.
with that, if we play two up front, will Gerrard and Aquilani work better than Gerrard and Lucas?

The opinion of the majority of Liverpool fans, judging by various player of the season polls on various sites.Originally posted by Mike View PostYour opinion, not mine
In fact, i'd say it's as close as an opinion can get to 'fact' as there is
It's not dissimilar from an 'opinion' that states Torres is better than N'Gog

I will say Mascherano is a better player than Lucas, obviously. My opinion was based on last season Lucas being a better player and doing more for Liverpool than Mascherano.
If you dont agree with it, frig off

I will disagree though.
Mascherano started slowly and needed to pick up his game but he did this after the first 2-3 months of the season and after this, put in one brilliant performance after another. That's why he won player of the season on several LFC forums, including this one
Lucas was decent on a consistent basis, but not often much better than decent, occasionally goood.

Although Masscherano was excellenent at times in the latter part of the season I think that taking everything into account over the course of the season Lucas was the better player, his attitude was inspiring.
Mascherano is the captain of Argentina so obviously, technically you would expect him to be more developed and his mind set to be more mature then that of Lucas. Fact is that Lucas stepped up when Mascherano wasn't either interested or was still disillilusioned by missing out onhis dream move to Barca.
If Mascherano had of got player of the season it would have been a travesty imo.
