Sterling was involved in a couple of the goals, definitely got one assist at least. Only seen the goals, but he looked his usual busy self.

I must confess, I just don't see it with Silva. LFC.tv love him ands think he's great. He's quite skillful and quite fast, but not so much so that he stands out ahead of the others on the pitch. Well, not when I've seen him anyway.

    Ngoo scores again.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Cheers. The offal didn't mention Sterling at all and then I saw him subbed so thought the worst. It's funny though how some reports mention certain players and others don't.

Fabio Aurelio featured for 75 minutes as Liverpool Reserves were held to a 1-1 draw by Blackpool on Tuesday afternoon.

The Brazilian came through his latest run-out unscathed as Nathan Eccleston's superb first-half strike was cancelled out by Ishmel Demontagnac's ambitious curler nine minutes from time.

It was a bitter blow for John McMahon's men who dominated throughout the encounter, but the assured display of Aurelio was a huge positive and could well see him force his way into manager Roy Hodgson's plans for Saturday's first-team encounter at home to West Ham.

Ahead of the clash with the bottom placed Tangerines, the second-string coach opted to name a strong side, with Jonjo Shelvey, Dani Pacheco and Eccleston joining Aurelio in an experienced line-up.

In front of the watching Damien Comolli, Kenny Dalglish, Sammy Lee and Jamie Carragher, Liverpool began the proceedings with an assured possession game and after some neat approach play they almost stole ahead on 11 minutes.

The stylish Shelvey picked the ball up in the centre of the park and sent Eccleston galloping in on visiting stopper, Paul Rachubka. The striker looked all set to open the scoring but opted to cut inside and, after he was crowded out, Aurelio dragged a shot off target.

It set the tone for the remainder of the match and Gerardo Bruna was next to go close when he fired off target following a dazzling 40-yard run.

It was very much a one-sided affair and after David Amoo drilled wide Eccleston saw his composed finish brilliantly hacked off the line by Ashley Eastham.

The writing was already on the wall for the Seasiders and on 23 minutes the hosts took a deserved lead.

Once again Shelvey was the architect of the move, fizzing a beautifully weighted pass out to Bruna on the left side. The winger jinked to the byline and laid the ball into the path of Eccleston who confidently swept home from eight yards.

The Reds continued to ask the more probing questions as the half came to a close and Steven Irwin forced a smart save out of Rachubka before Eccleston saw his shot from a tight angle well blocked.

McMahon would have been more than happy with his side's performance in the opening 45 minutes but, with the first-team's match with West Ham no doubt in mind, the impressive Shelvey was replaced by Jay Spearing at the interval.

The diminutive midfielder didn't take long to make an impact either, crashing a long range shot straight into the midriff of Rachubka before teeing up Amoo to fire wide of the far post when in on goal.

The Reds continued to push for a second but failed to manufacture the clear-cut openings that had been in abundance during the opening exchanges.

As the clock ran down there was always the danger that the visitors could put together a move to snatch a point and on 81 minutes they grabbed a goal they scarcely deserved.

There appeared to be no danger as Demontagnac picked up the ball on the right flank but he produced a speculative 30 yard curler that looped over Brad Jones and under the crossbar.

Dani Pacheco then had two chances to win it for Liverpool deep into injury-time but saw his free-kick arrow inches wide before Rachubka denied him with a stunning last-gasp save.

Liverpoolfc.tv man of the match: Jonjo Shelvey. A superb 45 minute showing from the former Charlton man.

Liverpool Reserves: Jones, Flanagan, Aurelio (McGiveron 75), Mendy, Irwin, Shelvey (Spearing 45), Pacheco, Suso, Amoo, Bruna (Silva 61), Eccleston. Unused subs: Bouzanis, Ngoo.

Good news about Aurelio. Fingers crossed he can at least stay fit until the January transfer window opens.

I hope your right but I wouldn't be wasting any of my hard earned cash by laying any bets on that

Jonjo is coming along nicely. Not sure what's going on with young Pacheco though

That's a possibility of course but he did so well with the Spanish youth team I really expected him to flourish under uncle Roy. Hasn't happened like that though.

Moyes will probably call him up to the 1sts mate. Quality bit of defending that

Keep meaning to ask, but is Coady a good player? He's been quiet every time I've seen him but I assumed that if he was captain and hit penalties then he must have something about him.

Thomas Ince - the son of Notts County manager Paul - struck his first goal in professional football as the Magpies defeated MK Dons at Meadow Lane.
