If we want to go with three midfielders he would be a very good option to give us more creativity and forward momentum when Gerrard is out. On the other hand we could do with some more physical presence and athleticism which he doesn't provide.

So, what of Aquilani?

Aquilani can certainly do a job for us, but he would need to play with a strong midfield partner in a Hamman role. Gerrard can't be relied on for this, Lucas is good but not hard enough.I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.

Aquilani would be a better option than Gerrard in any position if you look at the last 20 months.Originally posted by dww View PostIf we want to go with three midfielders he would be a very good option to give us more creativity and forward momentum when Gerrard is out. I wonder why Gerrard is leading the fans and LFC.tv MOM awards on the official website despite missing a few games - Christ, the rest of our team must be **** eh, Arn?!!Originally posted by Arn View PostAquilani would be a better option than Gerrard in any position if you look at the last 20 months.

Thought of a midfield of Lucas, Aquilani, Meireles makes me cringe. We'll get steamrollered (like we did against Vs West Ham cos it took Gerrard 70 mins to get warmed up)
If we were to get Aqua back I'd be happy as a back up option to Meireles / Gerrard - clear that both those 2 wont last 40 odd games a season. Lucas has to be replaced with a Sissoko, M'Vila type player though. The Bodge is gone, long live the King!

You can take this as fact.
If Lucas play an excellent game and Gerrard a bad one then there is a very big chance that Gerrard will get more votes.
Why?
Lucas is Lucas and Gerrard is Gerrard.
Fair voting

Voted for by Liverpool fans - I don't care if a player is from Outer Mongolia, if he is MOM, he should get the vote.Originally posted by Arn View PostA clue. He is Gerrard and a local lad.

For the record, I don't think Gerrard has been Liverpool's best player this season either - but I don't have a bitter agenda against Stevie (or Carra) which you most obviously have due to reasons known to everyone on this forum.
Irrespective of his form this season, Liverpool are a significantly weaker side without Stevie in the side.

I see where you are coming from but I'm not sure I entirely agree. Irrelevant of the one on one comparison I think we need a midfield which has good balance. A midfield of Aquilani, Lucas and Meireles would be far too lightweight for the PL in my opinion.Originally posted by Arn View PostAquilani would be a better option than Gerrard in any position if you look at the last 20 months.
There have been a lot of factors that have contributed to Gerrard's (comparatively) poor form. He has still shown some flashes of being to sort of match winner we otherwise lack."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Actually other way round imo. I remember Lucas getting far to many votes last year, many as sympathy ones.Originally posted by Arn View PostYou can take this as fact.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

If we bring a type of player like M'vila or Sissoko I think Aquilani, M'vila/Sissoko and Raul midfield would be fine.Originally posted by dww View PostI see where you are coming from but I'm not sure I entirely agree.
