SUBS JONES SKRTEL LUCAS MAXI KUYT JOVA NGOG. MAYBE TIME TO PLAY JOHNSON RIGHT SIDE AND TIME TO GIVE PACHECO A CHANCE IN THE "HOLE". WE REALLY NEED TO GET A GOOD PERFORMANCE ON SUNDAY OR EVERYTHING COULD STAT TO LOOK VERY GLOOMY. ON THE TRANSFER SIDE OF THINGS NEED TO SELL MASCH AND BUY 2 WINGERS THE LACK OF WIDTH LAST NIGH WAS DEPRESSING WHEN WE BROKE OUT WE WERE VERY SLOW WHERE AS CITY BROKE OUT AT PACE.

The second attempt was only a very slight improvement

because i think he **** himself - i agree, logically, you'd put in lucas alongside poulsen once mascher pulled out.....but i reckon he got put on the spot, didn't fancy poulsen and lucas together, and changed his mind and the system late onOriginally posted by Exiled_red View PostWith hindsight I'm not convinced that was ever going to be the team, because if it was, when Mascherano pulled out surely he would have just switched him and Lucas? That wouldn't have required much of a change to the system. Why drop Poulsen as well and go with no real defensive midfielder?i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

a harsh reality isn't itOriginally posted by barnes10 View Posti felt we were going to get taught a lesson.
its about time the chickens came home to roost. man city are a team powering towards a title challenge this season if not next. i rate a lot of mancini's signings and think he'll o a great job there.
us on the other hand are gearing up for mediocrity so i dont know why people are surprised. if we went to chelsea and got taught how to play we wouldnt be that suprised. so i think last night was a combination of us showing our limitations (tactics as well as cohesiveness) and city showing us they are growing.
so we'll do well to hang in to get 4th and city will probably get into the top 2. fair enough really. expectation management time.
- and reece's post reference the cost of city's bench compared to our starting XI sums it up.
It does look, at best, we're looking to be a 'decent' side that will do ok against the lesser teams, and hope to pull off one or two big results for us to cheer about....were turning into Evertoni own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

Last season was as bad as it could have been IMO almost everything that could go wrong went wrong. IMO if we'd played that season over again and again I don't think we could do as badly again as we did.Originally posted by Rudo View PostFor those who think/expect Roy to magically guide us back into the top 4 and bring the good times back, how exactly is he meant to do this?
Bearing in mind this is the same squad that finished 7th, ****in 7th last season, and as we all know one of our best players won't be around too much longer.
Also City are improving rapidly, Spurs continue to progress, Arsenal aren't far away and it's pretty much a given United & Chelsea will up there. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

But surely an experienced manager shouldn't react like that, presumably we'd been making plans all week for that system, so why rip it up and start again because something goes wrong on the matchday? Would he have done something like this if a player got injured in the warm up?Originally posted by PTP View Postbecause i think he **** himself - i agree, logically, you'd put in lucas alongside poulsen once mascher pulled out.....but i reckon he got put on the spot, didn't fancy poulsen and lucas together, and changed his mind and the system late on
Obviously your first reaction would be to have a rant, get angry, maybe kick a few things or whatever, but once you're got that out of your system you then need to revert thinking to logically and find a solution to the problem. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Have to say there's some fierce knee jerking going on, **** me.
It was an appalling performance one of/if not the worst i've seen from a LFC side in recent years. What was most apparent to me was we looked disjointed and lacked any sort of continuity. The Masch situation is a ****ing joke, yet another saga that has dragged on for way to long, and it is bound to effect the team, sure if Masch was in there instead of Lucas last night it would have been a different story as there would be far better cover for the defense and Stevie could have got forward more instead of being petrified to leave Lucas alone in the middle, which left a huge gaping hole between midfield and the forward line.
Lucas should never start in Liverpool's first 11. Kuyt IMO if good offer comes in we should sell. Johnson has been a horrific waste of money, he is not a defender end of, decent going forward to genuinely cannot defend to save his life and combined with Agger not being a LB and Skrtel being distinctly average, well got our asses handed to us, Milner and Johnson had a field day. Jovo was shocking, hopefully thats not what we can expect for him. I know Torres needs to be 100% fully fit to function (similiar to Rooney in that way) but without sounding over the top, he looked mediocre. No pace,no power,no presence,no fight, no heart, looks like a man shot of confidence and passion, we really need him.
I just can't see us playing that bad again, it was plain embarrassing if i'm honest but i'm not gonna knee jerk and say we're bolloxed or that Roy is ****e, its his first 2 league games against poxy opposition, he has had little or no money, our star buy Cole was suspended and added to that the Masch debacle and pulling out before the game. He will come good just needs time and to have players that want to be at the club and play for LFC but yes IMO Roy showed a complete lack of urgency, much similar to what Rafa used to do. Picking Lucas was a mistake although i think we all know that Masch would have started instead and Poulsen needs time to adjust so unfortunately Lucas was our only option, and a horrific one at that.
I have no doubts Roy will turn it around, i am sick to ****ing death of all of our off the field battles, i long for the day when we can just concentrate 100% on the game of football instead of all this drama, backstabbing and politics.
P.S. Said recently Masch was a cunt, few disagreed, think its safe to say that statement was very true, he literally can **** off.Last edited by danperkins; 24-08-10, 12:39 PM.
