Hodgson has and always was a stop gap appointment. Roy took the job as he knew if he did well he could keep the job. It is know secret that new owners would likely want their own man, always happens in football.Originally posted by Galb View PostI agree. I dont blame him in the slightest for taking his chance. We all would. But he's out of his depth.
We signed him as manager because he was the flavour of the month with the media over a UEFA Cup run.
A feckin UEFA Cup run.
We need new owners and then we need to get rid of Purslow because as long as we have him taking his cues from the media in making football decisions, we're on our way to becoming the new old Newcastle.Forwards.......

Just because some fans are stupid, it doesn't justify his sacking.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostIf the fans had supported Rafa (as I did last season I should add) he would still be here. Maybe you and other posters have a short memory but the majority wanted him gone.
When the fans were behind him it was impossible to sack him, hence the 5 year deal. When people turned their back on him due to a bad season, the door was opened.
As for the short memory jibe, please try to find a way not to patronise me, there's a good lad..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Yep, and watching a spine of Agger, Kyrgiakos, Lucas and Babel struggle to impose itself on a fourth division side in front of home fans is hardly going to inspire him to play any of them in future....sad that Agger is one of them, and Pacheco will also be tarred, as I rate them two. Hard to defend any of them tonight though from what I've heard, individually or collectively.Originally posted by el matador View Postbabel of all of them is the most frustrating. he had so much hype around him we all thought that we were signing a superstar but he's just super ****.
all he offers is pace and with all due respect even league 2 teams - yes ****ing division 4 teams have at least one quick black fella. he has no plan b he has nothing else to offer.
****ing donkeys like frank sinclair would handle him with no problems. it just goes to show that when you take gerrard and torres out of the team we still have nothing else to offer.
its not good enough.
i think roy is genuinely confused as to how to handle the players and until he finds out the formula we are going to be ****.

No, the noisy people and those in the media that didnt like him wanted him gone. Dont confuse noise with numbers.
Rafa was still popular enough that Purslow has to stitch him up with PR tricks while he was away on holidays. You dont have to do that if the manager has lost all the fans.

And it wasn't just "Some" it was the majority. And I include this site in that as I was one of very few who actually asked for patience when we were losing to Lyon and Fiorintina etc.Forwards.......

Rubbish. When I went to games (very few), the pubs, the forums, the talk was all the same. Get rid.Originally posted by Galb View PostNo, the noisy people and those in the media that didnt like him wanted him gone. Dont confuse noise with numbers.

You're right about one thing. I was patronising you.

Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

Always, keep your face to the sun, and shadows will fall behind you.

they where the lowest ranked team in the professional league.... we were at home....
im just gonna come out and say this... sack him! get O'Neill in at least he has a personality and can motivate a player.
we havent played one good game of football since roy took over... not in pre season and not in the regular season. unless he gets a ****ing grip of his players and ****s this long ball **** off we are stirring at a bottom half of the table finish.
