I remember the Babel-helicopter-madness, but the Lucas and Soto links seemed to be the usual press speculation bollocks (new manager in, lets link everybody with a transfer to sell more papers...). Did Roy actually say this at some point?Originally posted by danperkins View PostCompared to Masch he is most definitely a regressive signing but we could never get a progressive signing in that position in our current financial state.
The Masch loss, was a massive blow to the club, losing a world class player especially in the manner we did (Before the City game and Masch playing games) was a hammer blow to the club IMO. Poulsen is a better all round player but not a better player, at the moment far from it and prob never will be but he has done ok so far (handball aside), adjusting to the pace and tempo in a new team must be difficult for any foriegn player.
I don't think Hodsgon wanted to take steps back but with some seriously sub standard players there when he arrived it takes time to ship that **** out, apparently Lucas/Babel/The Greek where all goners too but we ran out of time, selling all the deadwood Roy did, intention sof selling above 3 players mentioned, getting Aqua out and Merieles and Cole in for me represents trying to move the club forward in the best way he possibly can, unfortunately takes time and money.
Jones is **** but won't play, Konch is average and would be 2nd choice but Aurelio is made out of biscuits so that is a problem, Cole and Merieles are talented although we'll see how Merieles adjusts, done ok so far, Poulsen has done ok too in a very underperforming team.

Mate, sorry but you're talking absolute crap. Aquilani showed that he's got quality, he just wasn't fit enough to demonstrate it on a regular basis.Originally posted by danperkins View PostAnd as for Aqua he had his chance and was terrible in the premier league, much much better suited to playing in Italy and only Italy. Space, time, ballet he should do well there... well if he's not injured. Lets hope he does well so we can recoup some funds back. Are we winning?

Sorry but imo he offers very little, certainly less than Lucas and I would even say less than Spearing, at least he shows some energy and drive.Originally posted by Operation View PostBut it doesn't really. He's had MOM nominations for a start. He's been inconsistent, and mostly poor, but he deserves as least a bit of credit.
Poulsen has shown he can slow the play and pass the ball sideways and backwards I dont see that he is particually effective in shielding the back four by putting in tackles and winning the ball either.
He needs to adjust to the pace very quickly but I dont think at his age its going to happen
I also cant believe we spent 5 million on him as opposed to buying a younger, hungrier more mobile player to do that job.
But then all of Hodgsons signings, so far, have been experienced players for the present, not the future so maybe thats what we should get used too.

He hasn't been fit for over 6 years Nige, he literally has done nothing of note in his career, productivity wise he has feck all goals and assists in his whole club career and expecting a player who is well known to be injury prone and also who "was" injured at the time to flourish in the roughest/toughest/fastest league in the world, was a massive gamble! And one that backfired horribly. IMO it ultimately cost Rafa his job.Originally posted by NigelLG View PostMate, sorry but you're talking absolute crap. Suited to Italian Footie, never a hope of him making it in the premier league. And i'm not saying he hasn't got ability, just not suited to premier league IMO and seemingly proven so.Last edited by danperkins; 29-09-10, 04:10 PM.

The day we start evaluating a player by looking at how many MOM nominations he's had on this or indeed any other fan site is the day we give up.Originally posted by Operation View PostBut it doesn't really. The big difference between Hodgson and Rafa is that Rafa produced many excellent performances and results. Indeed, the overwhelming majority of games we played under him were very good.Originally posted by danperkins View PostI really beg to differ there, there has been plenty of performances in Rafa's long reign that have been appalling and have left me gobsmacked. The lack of organization is exactly what i've been saying, takes time the change the team and get them playing the way he wants. Rafa style has been drilled into them and needs to be drilled out, our back line is having an epic nightmare coping with this transition.
It takes time to get the best out of a much changed under performing squad, Daglaish would have been my choice but i can understand why he wasn't chosen as he has been out of the game a long time and has a position at LFC already.
I don't think anyone has faith in the Liverpool F.C. boardroom mate. I've got to the stage where i don't go on to ownership threads or talk about the financial situation because im genuinely that disillusioned with the whole thing and i don' trust any of them and take everything they say with a massive pinch of salt.
Under Hodgson however every single performance has been ****ing abysmal. It's clear he hasn't got a clue.
I can say in all honestly that in the 45 years I've been watching Liverpool the current style of play and overall performances are far and away the worst I've ever seen. There's simply no other way to describe it
The sooner the useless ******* gets the boot the better for all concerned

I agree with his critique as it happens.Originally posted by Lecter View PostInteresting snippet from an Alan Green article
I have to say I begin to worry about the suitability of Roy Hodgson. Hicks and Gillett don’t choose players and tactics. The manager does and, as well as a lack of quality in some players and a lack of conviction in others, I detect a general air of negativity. Fulham ‘sat’ deep. No Liverpool team should.
