It ties their kangaroos down..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

I've just read the racist verse in the original version. That really isn't funny at all..

[Spoken:]
There's an old Australian stockman lying, dying. He gets himself up onto one elbow and 'e turns to his mates, who are all gathered around and 'e says:
Watch me wallabies feed, mate
Watch me wallabies feed,
They're a dangerous breed, mate
So watch me wallabies feed
Altogether now!
Tie me kangaroo down, sport
Tie me kangaroo down
Tie me kangaroo down, sport
Tie me kangaroo down
Keep me cockatoo cool, Curl,
Keep me cockatoo cool
Ah, don't go acting the fool, Curl
Just keep me cockatoo cool
Altogether now!
Tie me kangaroo down, sport
Tie me kangaroo down
Tie me kangaroo down, sport
Tie me kangaroo down
'n' take me koala back, Jack
Take me koala back
He lives somewhere out on the track, Mac
So take me koala back
Altogether now!
Tie me kangaroo down, sport
Tie me kangaroo down
Tie me kangaroo down, sport
Tie me kangaroo down
Let me abos go loose, Lew
Let me abos go loose
They're of no further use, Lew
So let me abos go looseAltogether now!
Tie me kangaroo down, sport
Tie me kangaroo down
Tie me kangaroo down, sport
Tie me kangaroo down
And mind me platypus duck, Bill
Mind me platypus duck
Ah, don't let 'im go running amok, Bill
Just mind me platypus duck
Altogether now!
Tie me kangaroo down, sport
Tie me kangaroo down
Tie me kangaroo down, sport
Tie me kangaroo down
Play your didgeridoo, Blue
Play your didgeridoo
Ah, like, keep playin' 'til I shoot thru, Blue
Play your didgeridoo
Altogether now!
Tie me kangaroo down, sport
Tie me kangaroo down
Tie me kangaroo down, sport
Tie me kangaroo down
Tan me hide when I'm dead, Fred
Tan me hide when I'm dead
So we tanned his hide when he died, Clyde
And that's it hangin' on the shed!!
Altogether now!
Tie me kangaroo down, sport
Tie me kangaroo down
Tie me kangaroo down, sport
Tie me kangaroo down

If we were going to redevelop Anfield, I would want them to do a proper job! This is what I would do:-Originally posted by Dessy View PostWhy not? I'm pretty sure that architectural designers could come up with something worthy of consideration?
Perhaps we could adopt the "ryanair" standy uppy seaty thingumjiggy?
Seriously though what are we talking about here, an extra 15,000 seats? The Main Stand (c. 12,200 seats) could surely be looked at for redevelopment? The Anny Road (c. 9,000 seats) could be upped to match the Kop (c 12,500) and I'm sure The Centenary and The Kop could benefit from a 'freshening' up so to speak?
Would there be a need to build outside of the existing Anfield blueprint? I don't know but advances in build and construction industry would surely mean we could get more on the existing Anfield blueprint?
1. Replace The Main Stand, Anfield Road and The Centenary with one horse show shaped stand. This would be two tiered with one or two rows of boxes all the way round, with a ring of sectioned off corporate seats (5 - 8 rows) just below the boxes.
- The New Upper and Lower Main Stands/Centenary would hold 9,000 per tier, 36,000 in total.
- Anfield round two tiers of 5,000
- Corners, say 8,000
- Boxes and the ring of corperate seats say 6,000
That would be roughly 60,000 seats.
2. Once all the above was complete I would knock down The Kop and build a bigger/better one that holds around 20,000. Bring the total capacity to 80,000.
3. A few other things I would consider:-
- Have a large bar under one of the stands like Shearers Bar at Newcastle (three levels, it must hold more than 1500 people easy)
- A small number of pitch side boxes likes at the dallas cowboys new stadium
- No corperate in the Kop obviously
- Shared season tickets, some people can't afford a full one or don't have enough free time, why not let 2 mates share them or a family share 2 between 4, making it an offical thing might help the club sell more tickets.
- Make say 1000 cheaper kop tickets available to under 21s to pay on gate to encourage younger fans to start going.
- Make 500 tickets per match available to local primary schools available for every game, maybe the closest 36 schools could get 250 free tickets per season to get the young kids to start going the game.

it would make more sence to build a new stadium in the park than do all that as the club already has the planning permission, and it would probably be more cost effective and who's to say we would get planning permission to do that much work on anfield personally i doubt we would.Originally posted by ukfootballfan101 View PostIf we were going to redevelop Anfield, I would want them to do a proper job! i defo can't see us being allowed to build bigger kop, especially to take the capacity upto 80,000 the area couldn't take that amount of fans it pushing it trying to get 70,000.
i think the council are going to play hardball over this, and will try and push the club into going with a new stadium.they will see a new sparkling stadium as the jewel in the crown of the whole regeneration of the anfield area, plus with a new stadium there is the chance of the anfield plaza possibly going ahead which would also add more green space to the area as well as jobs.
who's arsed?

An ideal scenario would be Liverpool staying at an expanded Anfield, and Everton being forced out of the city allowing Tesco to create their wish-washy stadium, but I'm fairly confident that Anfield can't be built on in any direction.
For the future of the club, a new stadium is a must. But it has to be *our* stadium. It can be done, but the previous work looking into it found that the maximum would be around 50-55k, and you'd have huge problems of lack of revenue and upset fans/customers during the construction.Originally posted by Dessy View PostWhy not? From memory, the plan was to flatten the Main Stand and rebuild, the club already having bought most (if not all) of the houses behind to enable that to happen. There was also a plan to redevelop the Anfield Road end, roughly doubling it's current capacity, which involved closing a section of the road itself and building on it.
Both would take a year or two to complete, leaving us without the revenue from those stands for two seasons or more, and season ticket holders unable to go to the game etc. The costs of construction would be higher, with the added complication of closing and excavating roads and demolishing houses, and the net result would be a stadium of around 50-55k, with the Centenary starting to look dated and requiring refurbishment or redevelopment in the next 10-15 years.
The conclusion was that it was much simpler, cheaper, and better for the club in the long run to build on a clean site on Stanley Park.
All of this is without the complication that redeveloping Anfield would require planning permission from a council that wouldn't necessarily be keen to grant it, and would involve us forfeiting the grants that contribute towards the new stadium that are contingent on the redevelopment of the existing stadium area.Last edited by calvoboy; 25-10-10, 09:07 PM.

I think if the costs were the same (or close) NESV would prefer to regenerate Anfield. But I tend to agree with you. I think the Council badly wants the new stadium. A large capacity would require a train station being built on the train line that runs to the east. Also if they build a new stadium half the building costs could be covered by a sponsorship deal.Originally posted by shanks69 View Postit would make more sence to build a new stadium in the park than do all that as the club already has the planning permission, and it would probably be more cost effective and who's to say we would get planning permission to do that much work on anfield personally i doubt we would.

Hey Pablo, **** off.Originally posted by Pablo1981 View PostLeave the thinking to the grown ups

Not nearly as much as yours does. During the Olympics a lot of news people were talking about the amount of money your Government was pumping into cycling etc, compared to our spending. Obviously its relative to population size but we both send the same amount of competitiors to events so the funding isn't spread as far as ours. Having said that the Government has payed for a number of stadiums around Australia. It helps when your economy isn't down the ****ter following the World Recession... Not sure if our taxs are high compared to others, frankly I don't care because as long as my dad pays for my phone and I only am working once or twice a week its not my problemOriginally posted by dom9 View PostAre taxes high in Australia?
The government seems to spend a lot of money on sport.
