I still think Gerrard has it in him. Would be mad of us to sell him now. I wouldn't have a problem selling Carra though.Originally posted by Arn View PostSo why did he sign a new deal the day before the takeover?
Carra don't care that much about the club any more. It's all about him and his career now. Carra first and Liverpool second. Maybe not the case a couple of years ago but it looks like it is that way now.
The sooner he leaves the sooner we can move on. The same goes for Gerrard. Both of them need to be sold.
Both of them clearly now thinks that they are bigger than the club.
Yes both of them have had a hand in the sacking of Rafa but one of them still has it in him to redeem himself and the club unlike the other onePatience when teased often, transforms into rage

No, we signed up the manager Carra, Gerrard and Purslow wanted. Not the one that would be best for the team. We signed up the one that would be best for Carra and Gerrard and stop Gerrard leaving.Originally posted by Vermilion View PostIs'nt that what we just did...and ended up with Roy.

Gerrard is still a great player but if the next manager will have a chance to build the team and tactics the way he want then Gerrard must be sold.Originally posted by destinydude View PostI still think Gerrard has it in him. It's not about if he is a great player or not. We need to get back to the manager is the boss way and not Carra and Gerrard deciding things way as it clearly is now.
We are in the same situation Real Madrid was in when they still had Raul. We need to get rid of a legend or two to be able to move on. It hurts but it is a must.Stop the cyberhate

I disagree wholeheartedly Arn. Partly because I don't want to believe what is becoming a bit obvious, but the idea of selling Gerrard is just a ridiculous idea. He is the Captain and, unlike Carra, would still walk into any team in the world. We need a Manager that demands respect and unity that will use his strengths effectively. Don't forget, Stevie just wants us to win. He knows he's still good enough to demand a place so why would he actively promote a **** manager with ****house tactics over the prospect of success.Originally posted by Arn View PostSo why did he sign a new deal the day before the takeover?

I'm begrudgingly starting to believe the Carra stuff though. I think he has a role to play and is a true, true club legend but I fear the disruption he'll cause when he, as he should be, becomes rotated regularly. Something that will undoubtably occur under a 'gaffer' who's mentallity stretches past the concept of sentimentality mixed with a backwards belief in nationality/ patriotism.
Still, I'd love to see Carra wind his neck in and focus in becoming a valuable squad player for the next 2 years.A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Totally different to the Madrid situation. Raul there was eating up the place of another good player. We don't have a better player to match Gerrard now and we certainly don't seem to be thinking that center mid is the area that needs some good reinforcements.Originally posted by Arn View PostGerrard is still a great player but if the next manager will have a chance to build the team and tactics the way he want then Gerrard must be sold.

We need to buy proper wingers and let Gerrard play in the center. Be it CM or CAM. Any good manager can see what Gerrard brings to a team. He's not the problem the way I see itPatience when teased often, transforms into rage

I'm sure winning things would more than placate Stevie.

It doesn't matter if the manager got balls or not if we keep Gerrard. He will simply have to much influence off the pitch.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostYou dont need to sell Gerrard, you just need a strong manager with balls.
The manager must be the boss or else it won't work. Right now the manager must include Carra and Gerrard in the starting XI if they want to play. He don't have the option to drop them. Then he is finished.Stop the cyberhate

We have have to get rid of him now! Our next game is at home to West Ham, then we have Spurs (A), Villa (H) and Newcastle (A), these are 3 sides that are currently just below that 4th spot, if we can pick up a decent number of points from those 3 games we're back in the hunt for 4th. With Hodgson around this isn't going to happen and our season will more or less be over IMOThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
