We're talking in general Neil, not specifics. Read the thread from the beginning, people were lining up for a pop before he ever even posted in the thread. I've no objection to anyone discussing or disagreeing of course, but petty point scoring and pigeonholing is hardly constructive, or leads to good debate. There's nothing I dislike more than "personality posting", especially when its being done by some people who have suffered from the same thing themselves in the past. So we're drawing a line before it gets out of control.I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

Course they are. Just acknowledge that it's been changedOriginally posted by Alex View PostMust admit i get a bit bored when every thread turns into the same argument. Which is why i really only post in the match threads.
Just a thought though. Are people not allowed to change there opinions?

No. You must take a position and stick to it no matter what, changing your mind is a sign of weakness you must be punished forOriginally posted by Alex View PostMust admit i get a bit bored when every thread turns into the same argument. Which is why i really only post in the match threads.

Don't think perkins has changed his opinion. He admits Soto has been a good signing for us, but he's right in the fact that does not make him a good footballer, cos he isn't. He's decent enough, but a decent, pacy forward could rip him to pieces...good in the air yes, but so am I...i'm still not LFC standard tho.Originally posted by Alex View PostMust admit i get a bit bored when every thread turns into the same argument. Put it this way, is he the sort of player that, if he played for another club, we should be targetting? Probably not. And that says it all, decent signing, but not a good footballer overall.

OK, but I just wanted to make sure you're not including me in your sweeping judgements on the matter. I don't want to say any more on this thread as I respect your decision even while disagreeing with it and besides some of our more focused members might prefer a reversion to the thread topic than to continue a tangential discussion on the rights and wrongs of any particular poster, confused or not.
Accordingly if you'd like to take it up further with me then I suggest PMs would be more appropriate.
Before finishing however I'd just like to put on record that I've noted Mr Perkins is very tenacious in fighting his corner and that's an admirable trait to have (unless you're a boxer)..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

From the match thread:
He's done what was expected, and a little more besides.Originally posted by MuddledZorba the Greek is the best threat from corners since Hyypia.
He's a good option against the more physical teams in the Premiership and chips in with an aerial threat from set-pieces (something key under Roy Hodgson). As I said also - he has the turning circile of an articulated lorry and would struggle against a nippy striker, but for £1.5m he's been a good signing, with extra kudos for crippling Fellaini.

Thanks mate appreciate that.Originally posted by Darkon View PostI will stick my neck out here and say I honestly don't understand what the big deal is about dan perkins opinion towards Soto?
Soto is far from a good player but he is a decent signing, what is the problem with that? seriously? Maxi was a good player that have turned out to be an awfull signing thus far - same logic, what would be the problem with that.
There are plenty of examples of good players turning out to be poor signings (Kewell springs to mind) and poor players doing a decent job (Traore springs to mind).
Is dan perkins just getting stick because people disagreed with him over Rafa needing to go?, which I and a lot of others agree with. At the end of last season on here it was about 50/50 in the poll if he should stay or not, so plenty of discussion on the topic for sure.
Or is this just an example of the group mentality, where apparently someone has to get picked at and now that Fredo is gone someone else have to become a favorite target?
Seriously I don't understand what the problem is by saying he is a poor player but have turned out to be a decent signing? can anyone explain that?
