I don't think it's that far-fetched that an owner of a football club has the final, *final* say on all things that relate to money.

Rodgers might say he doesn't want to sell Agger, FSG might say that £25m is too good to turn down, we're going over you head, consider him sold and think about what replacement you can get for £15m whilst we allocate the remaining £10m to 'x'.

This depends on whether over that period of time they are interested in higher profits/taking money out of the club/using funds to pay for fancy new designs for stadia that won't get built. If they intend the manager to reinvest the funds in the squad then that should be his decision you would think.

You would think that Johnson + another player would eat up any savings in getting Agger's wages off the books too.

perhaps, I'd think it's more down to "Buck, this is your budget but anything you raise in sales you can use in the market" hence why we've seen Carroll and Agger being linked with moves away IMO.

But yeah, I agree - there could be an element of 'this is your budget, plus sales' which is why I think Carroll is available - as Rodgers has highlighted that he is not in his plans. Therefore, the transfer rumours are mainly around attacking players as replacement.

It's the Agger one that plays on my mind as I think Rodgers wants to keep him, but FSG are generating some cash in my opinion.

Unless the owners are looking at his previous injury records, looking at the bids we're receiving and thinking that it could be worth cashing in.

Who knows. It's all guesswork and nobody here knows what's happening behind the scenes. I'm just trying to be positive about it.

I didn't say they knew anything other than there is a potential (rumoured) deal of getting £20+ Million plus Adam Johnson for Daniel Agger, they may view this as a good deal due to the increase on the original outlay for him (£5.8M) and by getting an attacking playing in the bargin which BR has been asking for funds to buy.

You make it sound as if Rodgers is asking for a bike for chrimbo, and would be happy with anything with two wheels.

At the end of the day I fully expect Rodgers to be allowed the final say on if we try to sell him or not and that will depend on what else he believes we need to bring in and what is of a higher priority to him.

Hhmm, this comes across as if there is some sort of committee working away in the background, over which Rodger's only has the "final say" rather than actually being in charge of setting the agenda of its work - he refused to work under the former arrangement, forcing the Owners to abandon that structure.

I've said this before, but some people really do need to go back and take another look at Rodger's introductory press conference, paying particular attention to the part of the footage where he butted into one of Ayre's questions to clarify the point about working with a DoF, and note the serious tone and demeanor he takes on when he says that he wouldn't work under that structure and that he's in charge.

There is just no ****ing way that the owners, after abandoning their preferred DoF structure to appease the man they appointed, would then suddenly march into the Manager's office and start demanding that he sell this player or that player. It's Rodgers' system, his vision, and his job to use the finite resources at his disposal to bring that vision to fruition.

This is the only explanation I would give credence to for interfering in the football side of things - to take money away and use it for other things.

Don't take everything so literally, by final say I mean the decision sits with him, so if a bid has come in I would imagine it would be down to BR to decide whethere they accept or we say no thanks.

If you read the rest of the posts it's all guess work from me, you and from most people on here based on what we've seen and heard with the situation so far regardless we don't know what they're thinking or what is really going on behind closed doors.

I think it's more a case of balancing the books; I don't think it's as drastic as fancy designs for a new stadium, but equally, I don't think it's to maximise their dividends neither.

If they reinvest all the (potentially) funds from an Agger sale, perhaps I won't be as sceptical, I'm just of the opinion that they are selling a (now)depreciating asset at it's maximum value.
