Anyway, usually **** myself when the Agger thread is bumped, but it's brilliant to finally have decent cover and not having to worry.

Liverpool's Daniel Agger reveals real reason behind Barcelona move snub

DANIEL AGGER has revealed why he decided not to pursue the chance to play for La Liga giants Barcelona.

          By Gary Jones/Published 15th October 2013

          Liverpool enforcer Daniel Agger

The Reds rebuffed several offers from Barcelona for the centre-back during the summer, who's revealed the pursuit of trophies have kept him foucsed soley on life at Anfield.

"In January, I’ll have been at Liverpool for eight years," he told Danish paper Ekstrabladet.

"If you count how many central defenders who have gone through the system during that period, you need to use more than one hand.

"That’s a lot, and I’m standing there still. I think that’s a reason [I'm still at the club]. I know, that is!

"For me [staying at Anfield] it’s also about making the team as strong as possible, because I’m hungry to win something. I believe winning things is possible.

“I’m interested in being part of a squad of 25 strong players”
          Liverpool centre-back Daniel Agger

"I’m interested in being part of a squad of 25 strong players, and those who the club bought in during the summer clearly help raise our level.

Agger also claimed that even though the club weren't interested in selling him, that could all change in the future.

"[The decision on Liverpool selling me to Barcelona] was up to the club. The club would not sell me, and it was so. We can always talk about that again later.

"I do not know [if I'll leave Liverpool]. Right now I have two and a half years left on my contract, and I intend to fulfil my contract.

"I’m glad I'm at Liverpool and playing well. We have a great team, and if I can win something it will be great. Liverpool is a huge club."

Does nothing to quell my fears that he’ll be gone sooner rather than later.

I think Agger and Johnson will leave in the summer. I also think its down to wages. Of course I may be wrong on both counts. Time will tell.

I think it's crazy that he's not in the team.

Have him in for Lucas right?

Really rate Agger but he got injured and now needs to fight to get his place back. Skrtel is the obvious one to give way but he's been playing very well of late.

Not saying Agger should be playing but we've conceded in every game he has been out.

That's also true but I'm not sure how much of that is from time to timebeing too easy to cut through as a side.

I'm hoping the Lucas/Henderson partnership with Gerrard further forwards helps fix this issue.

If Agger is fully fit, he should start against Arsenal.

imo a Toure-Agger partnership is the best we currently have. assuming we are not going to play 3 at the back with Coutinho returning from injury.

He is still the best centre back in the squad.

I don't think we'll change the formation or the starting 11 for the Arsenal game and quite rightly
