...I'd be rather surprised if we were standing in his way.

I personally would love to keep him. Agger and Skrtel are fantastic backup for Lovren and Sakho. But I cant see it. No club has 4 top centre backs and a Kolo.
Guess he will be off, which will be sad. But hes another relic from the Rafa era that unfortunately just doesnt fit anymore.
*Except Michael, who died.

Agger seems to be getting a ton of sympathy for apparently begging to leave. I'll stick my neck out here and say he's being a bit of a dick. If it was any other player lots would say the same too.
Look at Skrtel when he lost his place and we were actively looking to sell him a year or two back. Did he cry and beg to leave? Did he ****. He trained hard and won his place in the team back.
I think sometimes because Dan Agger is such a great guy and a genuine Liverpool fan he gets away with being a bit of a whining baby sometimes. Don't want to fight for your place in the team? Want a guaranteed starting spot? Well ****ing earn it then.

Not sure that's quite fair, of course he get's more sympathy as you say because he is a LFC through and through, and not a player bitching after 1 season or a player begging for a move to a rival after recieving incredible amount of support from fans after getting banned for being a dick more than once. But loyalty goes two ways, and of course Agger should get some back, and especially considering he has been in and out of the team for 3 seasons now without bitching and whining. It started under Roy and the last 2 seasons under Rodgers, and with his age he deserves to get a move and regular playing time now. I think he has handled it well tbh. Skrtel didn't whine, but perhaps he would have if he faced the 4th consecutive season? And with a manager clearly not favouring his particular forces.
And perhaps Mirror is no all that correct with the begging etc...?

I ran before work this morning Rich
Feeling good.
Meant to post that about Agger for a while actually. I think he's a little more loved than he should be. Always mouthing off to Danish media when he's out of the team, yet no one ever calls him up on it. At least you can't fault Skrtel for his attitude.
Do you disagree?

Skrtel did some whining too, all footballers do it.
And why would you blame Agger? he showed commitment to the club for years when top clubs wanted him. Now he's 4th choice, what incentive does he have not to take one of those offers now.
It benefits him and the club, so what's the problem? If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
