Are you 100% on that? If so, then that's a sackable offence in my opinion for whoever is responsible for allowing it to go through (Hodgson and Purslow?). Just awful.Originally posted by Arn View PostIt's totally up to Juventus if they want him or not. The transfer fee is already agreed. If they pay that then we can do nothing about it.
There was always a good chance that he would go back to Italy and flourish. To tie ourselves into a 12 million pound agreement just makes no sense at all. It gives Juventus all the cards.
Surely to god there must be a way out of it written into the contract. Purslow couldn't have been that ****ing stupid could he?K ris90210

Well, he must have OK'd it. But you'd think that Purslow would have been responsible for the fine details of the contract.Originally posted by PC Plod View PostSanctioned The Bodge didnt he?
They get a free player (who cost us 20 million) for 12 months and can then choose to buy him for £12 million. So if he flops or gets injured, they lose absolutely nothing. If he plays like he has done and his value soars then we have no way of reflecting that in the asking price. Zero risk for them. Always going to be a loss for us. It doesn't make sense.
I'm just hoping against hope that the 12 million isn't binding.K ris90210

The fee is 16m, not sure if it's pounds or euros. Juve don't wnat to pay this at the moment, they are trying to shake us down to 13m, which they would pay in January.
They are basically trying to tempt us to lose 3m, by bringing the sale date forward.
-------
As for if he would have settled. So many foreign players took a year to six months to settle. Even when being fully fit and having a full pre season. Aqua came injured. His pre season basically didn't start until December time. He was always playing catch up after that.
Towards the end of the season he was virtually up to speed and started to look the part. That suggests he would have settled. But we can't be definite. What I will say is that it was daft to loan him for a year. We should have kept him in my view to see if he adapted, or at the very least, sold him then and there and paid for a replacement.Forwards.......

Well it comes down to a few things really.Originally posted by Gaz View Post£13m in January might just be too tempting to turn down if we can bring in the Striker or Wingers we're desperately in need of
How much money do we have to spend? Are the players we want available at a good price? Would spending over the odds on players give us a chance of 4th?Forwards.......

I also would love to see him back.Originally posted by kris90210 View PostOk, does anyone know if there is a binding agreement in place to sell him if Juventus meet a stipulated amount (I'm sure I read 12 mil)? Because 12 million for him would be daylight robbery.
I'd love to see him back. If not, he shouldn't go for a penny less than 20 million. He's proven that he's amongst the very best midfielders in Seria A. And the style of play that he has, I think he'll get better and better over the next couple of years.
He wasn't given a proper chance to prove himself but those few full time games he played at he end of the season were encouraging.
He needed to play regularly before he could have been judged and on that basis alone so I'd like to see if he could make it but only if he would be given more and regular playing time.
Raul was initially considered to be a potentially poor signing but after being regular starter, the opinion on him changed quite a bit.
Originally posted by saj View PostBut it's not. The fee has already been agreed and it is daylight robbery. He's worth well more than £12M.
Truly poorly structured and executed deal that could only benefit Juve.
No escape clause,no possibility to increase the agreed price based on performance etc.

i think he could work well in a midfield 3 along with meireles and gerrard with gerrard pushing on to support torres with two decent wide players either side.

I think Purslow just listened to what we fans said and got rid of the players like Insua and Aquilani that most fans said wasn't good enough.
Roy of course agreed with him and then it was up to Purslow to loan or sell them.
Decisions made by Purslow so he would look popular.Stop the cyberhate

from now on I will skip talking about our finances. That is a promise and will save myself from looking like a
