So according to that article, he hasnt agreed personal terms and they havent agreed a fee with us (Sunderland 'hoping Liverpool drop the asking price').

The transfer basically sounds like it's at square one.

£4m now? I thought the £8m a couple of weeks ago was too good to be true

N'Gog looks a better prospect than say Welbeck to me. I'd think a value between £5m and £10m would be about right. He has a solid goals/minute record and has been playing in a less than highly creative side.

I think he would actually benefit most from a season for either a top Championship side or someone like Wigan who struggle but look to play good football in the PL.

I've said this a number of times but I think if we sell him now we won't get his true value. I would be tempted to loan him out for a year, as a good season on loan would increase his value significantly. Given his form (or lack of it) for most of last year £4m is probably about right now, a good season on loan at a mid to lower PL club could see his price double.

I honestly don't understand why we are so keen to get rid of N'gog right now. He is decent backup, knows the club, league and teammates and can still develop a bit.

He will never be a world beater but as a squad player we could do a lot worse.

If we sell him and replace him with another player to me it has to be a clear reinforcement and not say that Nolan dude that is older and doesn't score more than N'gog so far.

II think for whatever reason Kenny doesn't think he can improve N'gog. I suspect he believes that strikers need a 'killer instinct' and he doesn't see that in N'Gog.

My feeling is that N'Gog was better suited to Rafa's style of play and would need to change aspects of his game to be a real asset for Kenny. He'd also need Kenny to spend time and have faith. If that's not there I don't think he will get the games to adapt organically and he needs to be playing to grow as a player.

I'll be sad to see him go as I think he has a lot of potential but at this stage I think it is best for us and him if he goes somewhere to get games and we get some money for him.

I think his contract runs out next season, so that probably part of the reason. He`ll expect a 4-5 year contract with a pay rise. So if Kenny doesn`t think he`ll come good we might as well sell now.

Last summer I had fairly high hopes of Ngog pushing on, but he seems to have gone backwards in the last year. I'm not sure if it was a confidence thing or what but the previous season he was using his pace well and posing some problems for defenders, his decision making often poor but he did seem to be a threat. Last year he seemed to lose that and offered nothing after some decent performances in the early rounds of the Europa League.

Personally I think he needs games to develop his game, I don't see that happening sufficently with us next season as he's behind Suarez, Carroll and Kuyt in the pecking order, and with no European Football his game time will be severely limited. I think we should loan him out and consider his future next season. If he does quite well we could probably get about double what we're looking at now. If he doesn nothing we won't lose much we'd still probably get ~£4m for him. If he does really well he will have Premiership experience and can come back here more equiped to fight for a first team place.

If Kenny doesn't see him fit the system, there is of course little point in him staying here, but I think he is very underrated in terms of his ability and game intelligence. I really think we could do a lot worse as a rotation player, and I'm not particular excited about being linked with other players that have shown about the same in a lesser league and older than N'gog. Add to it that N'gog counts as a homegrown towards Europe, and it's a shame (know it's irrelevant next season)

What further makes little sense to me is the fact that we have little depth in the attacking position.

But in the end if he is not seen as a part of the system, and if the money are needed for other transfers, then it's probably the right thing - although I think it's a shame.

His game time will as you say be limited by not being in Europe, and that might be the reason why we are letting him go.

I think the attacking depth issue might be less of a problem if we have more midfielders coming in - Kuyt and Maxi could move forward in any 4-3-3ish formation. Kenny might also have his eye on some of the younger players/reserves to play more.

I kind of feel the same but it was pretty obvious that Kenny wasn't a big fan last season. Everyone in the squad needs to be thought of as a genuine option by the manager IMO.

That's the main point I feel, and the lad, although showing glimpses of potential, too often fell short for me...

I think it depends how badly we need the money, I see us getting ~£4m this year, if we need that money to buy someone we need then sell him, if we don't need the money I think we could get alot more next year

Don't think he's mentally tough enough for us - not yet anyway. And he'll not get the playing time to develop with us.

Best if he moves on tbh.
