    Martin Kelly.

Also this we loan them out then they leave has been true because it's all relative to the quality of the player.

The young lads we have had over the past 5 years or so haven't been good enough so they don't come back.
Hammill, Anderson are 2 that posters on here go on about yet they aren't producing great performances for Forest or Wolves and neither would improve us.
Hammill may have given us something different until the end of this season but I guarantee by the end of August no-one on here will be pining for Adam Hammill as our wide player

Edit: Spearing went on loan to Leicester but personally I don't think he's higher than championship level anyway
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

I would love it if he had a stormer and came back, but I think its more a shop window job.

Actually, Kelly spent time at Huddersfield did he not?!
Kelly went on loan at Huddersfield.

Spearing went on loan last season but isn't a regular.

The only other one I can think of is Danny Murphy who went on loan to Crewe and came back and became a regular

This deal should have been done at Christmas or even the start of the season. It's not like we really needed or used him.
Aye, quite disappointed by this news TBH. If he wasn’t going to be utilised by the club, he should have been sent out to a club that wanted him earlier, even if he had to return to Spain, not a last resort emergency loan. What makes things even worse is we’ve recently had to play Spearing on the right wing and Meireles on the left which neither are really comfortable with, and we’ll probably soon have nothing to play for anyway.

Ahh well, roll up Suso, our new Pacheco…

I guess in January Kenny hadn't had time to look at him. Bodgson should have loaned him out at the start of the season as he was never going to get regular opportunities under him, but I guess the Bodge didn't care about developing players for the future.

In hindsight a year out on loan would have been the best thing for his development, but at this stage this is the best we can do.

Having previously worked closely with the Accademy I'm sure Kenny was more aware of Pacheco's ability than Hodgson.

You have to have a good offer on the table as well. Norwich are a good club doing well. In recent seasons a lot of Championship clubs have become wary of having too many loan players so I don't think it is as easy to find good places to send people as some make out.

Obviously it is a shame that he didn't go out earlier but in a year when we have probably had at least three separate assessments of the squad made I don't think there is anyone specific to blame for it.

I blame Hodgson. If Pacheco flops at Norwich, it will all be his fault.

If Pacheco gets them promoted and develops as a player, then Kenny is a genius.

He seems to be a strange one. Tons of deadwood in out team got so many playing opportunties and even though he was one of the best at European U19 Championship past summer he was featured only 5 times in all competitions (only 2 starts including Curling Cup fiasco) by 2 managers this season.

Yet he was kept close to the first team all along and only now sent on the loan..

I hope he is loaned next year (which should have happened last year) to some low ranking PL club and he goes on to prove all doubters wrong if he is good enough to come back and play for us.

Any idea of his contract situation ?
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Was Pacheco at the Academy when Kenny was there? Wasn't he training with the first team squad at Melwood?

I have no doubt that Kenny had a better knowledge of Pacheco than the Bodge but I guess there's a difference in watching training and coaching him in training

He signed contract extension in December last year which would keep him at Anfield till 2014.

Strange thing is that Comolli was the guy that assisted with that extension.

Not sure, and couldn't be bothered checking the dates of when both were where.

I do think Kenny would have seen enough of Pacheco for whatever team he was training with though to have a fair idea of his ability having spoke to the coaches who worked with him every day, would be well informed if he could make the step up or not.

Obviously more informed than me, which is why I have to assume he has made the right decision.

What hasn't helped Pacheco is we haven't settled on a position for him, he plays on the left of the front 3 in a 4-3-3 for Spain, has just been promoted to the U21 squad so they see something worth investing longterm in him.
Rafa initially moved him wide in our 4-2-3-1/4-1-4-1 Hodgson said the same thing yet in the reserve game the other week Pacheco played as a deep lying centre midfield player.

For me he is ideal in the fluid 3 behind Carroll in the system that we played away to Sunderland, not saying he deserves to be a starter but hopefully next year he would have progressed enough to allow us to rest/rotate the likes of Gerrard/Meireles/Kuyt and whoever else we bring in
