I guess one option is to go - **** it 3-4-3 with Kuyt, Suarez and Carroll up top and as attacking a midfield as possible (even if it means playing Cole). In fact it is about the only option I feel might make me feel a bit positive.
i'm down with that. i think we need at least 2 up top, and while i would prefer 4-3-3 ideally, 3-4-3 in these circumstances probably suits our squad better. we do have some attacking options, and we should use them to make sure the other sides have a reason to sit back some.

In a lot of ways my feeling is that we either have to go all out attack or one up top and look to hold possession. If we did that I'd bench Carroll. He'd be good off the bench any way.

i don't think we currently have the nous to sit back and play possession football, and haven't had since benitez. we can have a good balance, or we can look to go at them, but i don't think our passing is good enough, and i'm quite certain our movement isn't.

I'm inclined to agree. However I think we have, on occasion, seen signs that players like Meireles and Lucas respond to a more ball on deck philosophy. I do think there is a lot more to come from players but we lack physicality and leadership and without that it is easy for teams to expose our flaws. I also feel that Carroll coming into the line up has unbalanced us.

if we play 3-4-3, i'd like to see genuine wide players (or the closest we've got) with suarez plus one other (meireles?) playing of carroll, but not as wide players. more just behind him and in the channels. let the midfield stretch the play, and give them lots to think about in the center of the park. keep some players close to each other so they can pass their way in, or give it wide. give them both options. it's how i've set up my pes team, although i actually let my fullbacks play wide and keep 6 players centrally, with the more attacking players of the midfield three pushing outside occasionally to support the wingbacks.

As I mentioned earlier I think we'll stick with a back four of:

              Carragher Skrtel Kyriakos Wilson/Aurelio

Aurelio isn't out for the season (yet) but he's unlikely to play many games those are the only senior defenders we have fit now, and I don't see us having the players to play any other system.

Things are getting so desperate we may have to consider bringing Konchesky back
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Can we bring Insua back at this point? I realize he is loan-tied with Gala until the end of the season but he's not their first choice (almost didn't play at all since Hagi took over) and I don't think they would be too opposed to let him go as long as that is possible.

we could ask, but they're under no obligation. would we be able to register him?

Gala is currently 12th on the table (whooping 32 points behind Trabzonspor and Fenerbache) and 11 points behind 4th place Gazianspor with 7 games left.

They won't use him nor they rely on him. We should approach them to see if they would let him go early as I don't see them offer him a permanent contract and we could use him.

LDH raised a good point about registration, even if we ytook him back, we couldn't play him.

we may be able to register him since we actually own him, and he hasn't played for another team in england during that time and we're out of europe. but i have no idea honestly. could be that we can't at all.

Kuyt as a left fullback? but we are in the ****.

I'd have though that once the Feb 1st deadline passes, we can't add to it and Insua wouldn't have been on that list. Likewise, I'm not sure either and I don't know if I'm basing that on FM rules or what I actually read on the PL website, but everything I think I know points to him not being able to play for us this season.

if that's the case then why do they have recall clauses in their loan contracts sometimes? certainly not so they can got back in the reserves, recalls are for when you really need your player back. right?

also, he just turned 22 in january. would he still be considered young enough we wouldn't have to register him?
