Kenny: We can end Arsenal hoodoo

Kenny Dalglish insists Liverpool's winless run at Arsenal will have no bearing upon the result when the two sides lock horns this afternoon.

Most Recent News Reds to pay respects to Danny How to follow today's game Aurelio eager to help Kenny 'Young full-backs have bright future' Reds set for U19 Champions League The Reds have not won at the home of the Gunners since Titi Camara's strike secured a 1-0 success way back in February 2000.

However, Dalglish remains confident his team can finally put their Emirates hoodoo to bed - if they match the standard of performance they produced against Manchester City last time out.

Dalglish told his pre-match press conference: "The history of results is unimportant for me. I don't think we'd lost at West Brom in a long time but we lost there, so if we've not won at Arsenal, why can't we go to Arsenal and win?

"It doesn't make any difference about past results. That doesn't get you anywhere it's what happens on the day."

He added: "We will approach it the same way as we did on Monday night against Manchester City and the same way we should in every game. We are not going to sit here and explain our strategy going into any game. But we have principles and the principles that they showed against Manchester City is exactly what we would like to see."

The Gunners head into the game knowing that anything other than a victory would be a huge blow to their title hopes.

Arsene Wenger's side had been in the hunt for honours on four fronts up until recently and, despite suggestions they don't have the mentality to land trophies, Dalglish believes they are well capable of combining their much-lauded attacking style with silverware.

"Arsenal are a fantastic footballing side," he said.

"Up until a month or so ago they were in with a shout of winning four competitions. They are only after the Premier League now but that doesn't take away from the fact they have players with fantastic ability and they are a team a lot of people like watching.

"We know it is a difficult game for us and we know what we are up against but they will be thinking it will be difficult too.

"They are a team a lot of people admire and I'm one of their admirers."

He added: "If you produce great players you have a better chance of silverware. I think they were a wee bit unlucky this year. Manchester United away put them out of one competition and Barcelona put them out of another.

"They are two difficult games. They could have faced easier games but sometimes those are the cards you are dealt. Sometimes it's not just about your ability to play but the draws you get."

Asked about his side's hopes of securing a Europa League spot, Dalglish added: "We'll just take every game as it comes and take as much as we can from every game we play in. At the end of the season we'll add the points up and see where we are.

"If we get a Europa League space we get it, if we don't then we don't. But we won't look any further forward than Arsenal."

I think so - I'd be sorely tempted to start with the same 11 from the Citeh game.

Can see Kenny looking at going to 3 CB's again though

                        Agreed.

I'd like to see the same 11 start but wouldn't be surprised to see it changing due to being away from home.

If we can play like we did in the 1st half against City we'll stand a decent chance.

If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

                                Out of curiousity...

Are people glad that Chamakh turned us down (might not have bought Suarez and Carroll) or do you still think he'll come good and prove to be a bargain that we missed out on?
