I rate plenty of players, just not those we've signed recently (Suarez being the exception because he is ****ing ace).

See him back and playing so well in pre-season I almost forgot about Mata

so it seems I was right mate, he won't play another competitive game for us.

Unbelievable decision if true and certainly not one that est members will approve of based on this poll.

I would prefer to keep him but if he doesn't want to be here then sell him.

To loan out a player for 2 consecutive seasons that we paid so much money for is a disgrace.

Alberto Aquilani near to Liverpool FC exit as Fiorentina look to strike deal

                  by James Pearce, Liverpool Echo
                  Jul 27 2011

ALBERTO AQUILANI appears to be on his way out of Anfield with Fiorentina closing in on a deal for the Liverpool midfielder.

Talks are ongoing after the Serie A outfit stepped up their pursuit of the Italy international.

Fiorentina want to take Aquilani on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent transfer.

Reports in Italy suggest they will pay the Reds a loan fee of £900,000 with the option to buy him for £9million next summer.

Aquilani's agent Franco Zavaglia said: “The agreement between Fiorentina and Alberto has not yet been reached.

“If we talk about an agreement, that was only reached between the two clubs, because Fiorentina have not come to any decision.”

Aquilani, who cost £17million from Roma in 2009, spent last season on loan at Juventus. They had the option to buy him for £14m at the end of the campaign but turned it down.

The 27-year-old is surplus to requirements at Anfield following the signings of midfield trio Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam and Stewart Downing.

A loan deal is not what we need

At least we'll get some money for the loan this time though
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

If he's not going to be sold this season so we can spend the money then keep him.

edit: However, if Kenny absolutely does'nt rate him, and nothing he can do will change that , or if Kenny believes/knows Aquilani does'nt want to play in the prem long term; then he may as well go now.

The thing is do you keep a player who is desperate to leave and doesnt want to be here

I'm not convinced yes is the right answer even if loaning him with an option to buy is the best offer we've had

I'm a great believer that if a player doesnt want to be here you let them go

Other than returning to Italy, what can Fiorentina offer him football wise that we can't offer him? We are definitely on the up and Fiorentina are what? ****e is what they are compared to us. He must really be home sick, no other possibilities make sense to me.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

So I guess this is where he €11m fee came from; if they do buy him next year, it will be a loan and transfer fee combined of £9.9m.

I'd prefer that £9.9m up front as that could buy Dann & Enrique, but I guess Aqualani wants to he in Italy and Fiorentina want to see he's over his injury. If he wants out, then fair enough - it looks like a deal that pleases all parties.

There's no guarentee that they will buy him though, we could find ourselves in the situation we had last season and this summer again.

The £900k loan fee isn't really enough IMO.
