I'm a great believer that if a player doesnt want to be here you let them go
No doubt about that, i agree, i don't want any players here who are'nt 100% committed, as i said yesterday i don't have info on whether he does or does'nt want to play for lfc, or whether this move to Fiorentina is Aquilani instigated or Dalglish.

But if your correct that he wants out, then really there's no decsion to make....he just has to go and that's that.

I just had this vision of him being the type of player we'd need when trying to unlock a stubborn defence, those times when we are dominating but unable to score, looks like i'll never find out if he was though.

Yes we could find ourselves in the same situation

However our hands are kind of tied as the player is desperate to return to Italy

If he's so desperate, he should try to lower his wage demands and make something more permanent happen? This is strange as not long ago, both parties were saying that they have no qualms in him coming back. I don't buy for one second that he wants to go.
        Are we winning?

Sorry, I meant to emphasise the *if* in my original post.

I agree though, it's a risky strategy - this time next year, he could be coming back to Liverpool with a season less on his contract and clubs starting to wonder why the hell no one wants to buy him.

But if all goes to plan, £9.9m is a better return than I had begun to expect. As for the £900,000 loan fee, that shocked me too ... I thought it would be more.

A shame he's off though, I think he could have offered something under Kenny.

From what I make of it all, I think it's the clubs that aren't willing to stump up the transfer cash. I'm guessing Fiorentina will be paying his wages now? But that's just my take on it.

I previously suggested keeping him until Christmas to see how things pan out, but if he really wants to go this window I’d at least wait until nearer the deadline at least. Surely some other Italian would be willing to take a punt if they miss out on other transfers, and it’s not as if we’re getting a great deal as it is. It would also give us a bit more time to address the Gerrard situation.

If we got a good offer before that then fine, take it. I see no reason to rush into this derisory offer with Fiorentina though.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

The rumour is the next best bid is Juve's £6 million they gave us in the early part of the summer

Well we keep him and make him earn his place then. This constant loaning of a £17m footballer is a utter joke. We've got new owners but we still appear to be the whipping boys of the world transfer market. They want him, they should pay for him. They don't then, well, he signed a contract and he's a professional.

A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

If he's so desperate to leave, why hasn't he put in a transfer request? It would save us having to pay him off and allow us to accept a lower fee.

If it wasn’t them cunts Juve, I’d probably take that offer at this stage. My preference would be to keep him, but if he has no chance of staying then I’d rather get the deal done and dusted and get him off the wage bill permanently and reinvest the money. If he picks up another bad injury, we mightn’t have any offers this time next year and would also have to cover his wages again once the loan deal expires.

I suppose it’s a lot easier for me to write off £4m just like that though.

You're exaggerating. I suspect supporters of many clubs feel they don't get great value in the transfer market. I doubt our record is much off average especially when you consider the changes in management and consequent need for significant changes in the squad. It's a lot easier if you don't have lots of players to offload, where buying clubs know you're desperate to sell.

And you're forgetting Suarez who everyone reckons was a bargain.

For all we know these things are all happening or the legal equivalents. We have even less than usual to go on with this transfer. When was the last time an Italian sports newspaper gave accurate information? Why are we believing that we are negotiating a 'golden handshake' when all we have is the word of some dude on twitter.

I agree with Suarez, although i personally consider £22m to be an obscene amount of money in any circumstances. If he was up for sale on the back of the Copa we'd have to pay a much higher premium though.
