Result imo doesn't reflect our performance.

Thrilled that we won but we were lucky first and foremost.
That same ****ty performance couldn't beat Sunderland at home last week...
Thanks for the memories Rafa - YNWA!

Made up with that win, still need a few more games to gel, there was some good passing and link up play but did get sloppy at times. What I think was key was that we often won the ball back in midfield quite quickly.

Winning this game was so incredibly important for us for quite a few reasons:

        1. Arsenal were seriously injured/depleted and if we didn't win the team moral would surely have taken a huge beating.
        2. A few of our players are lacking match fitness (i.e Suarez and Carroll) and just before PingPong was sent off it looked like we might die off.
        3. We have so many new players who are only starting to gel/become a fluid part of the team (Henderson especially).

Winning this game under these conditions could turn out to be so important for us because we all know that we have a really long way to go until were are fully fit and the squad has a good understanding, these 3 points could have gone either way and hopefully it will push us on to some good form!!

I’m sick of reading about how **** Arsenal’s team was. They still had their first choice forward line and they didn’t get a sniff all game (bar when Arshavin fouled Kelly).

Let’s see how they do against United without their most dangerous player in Nasri, before we start discrediting the result.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Good performance, more encouraging signs, desire to win apparent.

              Great stuff.

I just call it like I see it - when we play real opposition (even against the likes of Sunderland, we get found out.) We still need to improve MASSIVELY - my point is that today we won because of how bad the opposition was, not because of how good we were.

Henderson wasn't outstanding but he was better than his debut I thought (where I think he did well also). Very tidy in possession, good tempo to his game and his movement and passing was good. He's a real team player.
I'm only guessing but I would imagine he's been told by Kenny to play his way in, be economical with the ball, work hard and gel with the team. We'll see a lot more from him over the season

The team as a whole right from the start looked as if they slowed the tempo down to get a passing rhythm going, facing goal as much as possible and working little triangles. Again, I'm only guessing but this marked difference imo must surely have been on instruction - coming out of the blocks against Sunderland we probably tried to run before we could walk

Out attack is so dull and without any ability to score without Suarez.

Craig and few others have been getting lot of grief here about constantly repeating that we need a game changing player, someone that can influence the game single-handedly and I think it was clear today that we need one.

Actually we probably don't as we have one but he'll leave before the end of this transfer window

Was theire team any more depleted than ours was last year when we had to play the likes of Flanagan, Robinson and Spearing?

They lost their best player in Fabregas, but we did too with Gerrard. They had injuries at the back, but so did we with Agger, Johnson and Aurelio. I don’t see much difference and I can’t remember many excuses being made for us when we lost.

They still had a decent team out and we controlled the game.

The red card made a huge difference too. Plenty of work to do but it's only the second game. Far than convinced with our new additions though.

Deserved victory for #LFC at the Emirates. Performance aside, highlight of the day for me has to be the new banner: 'Dirk Kuyt works hard.'

I think the main thing for me is, is that when we took Carroll off and brought Suarez on it was amazing how quickly and drastically our football changed, short passes and movement across the ground, one touch football.

I'm not saying I don't rate Carroll for me its too early to judge but what I am saying is we need to incorporate our better football when he is on the pitch, he did go down a little easy for me, and looked a bit isolated at times but no doubt the talent is in there but just blasting it upto him is not going to get us anywhere.

I also think people who are jumping on the back of Henderson is a bit premature too, did some of you not learn anything from the bashing Lucas got from many fans, and look at him now.

Finally, Kenny is an excellent manager, great strategy today, and even though the sending off helped us, we rested arguably our best player and still got a result, it may not have been a world beating performance but for that we have to be happy.
The times they are a changin'.

Tbf regarding Henderson, the general consensus is that he is just not ready to be a starter for us.
