It's because his movement isn't very good, he needs to do better. I don't think he's good enough to be in the starting XI at this point in time. He's a massive presence and scares defenders though, but even his heading of the ball isn't good enough for someone like him, due to his poor positioning. Are we winning?

Yes. He looks like he is rocking on his ****ing heels most of the time. No anticipation, and goes over far too easily.Originally posted by NigelLG View PostIt's because his movement isn't very good, he needs to do better. That's a bit unfair though. I think he'll improve and do well in time, but he's got to learn quick. We need a new striker and one maybe more mobile. As long as he gives us options, it'll be good but we shouldn't rely on Carroll to win us games.Originally posted by Daniel 7 View PostCarroll hasn't the wit or speed of thought to do that. He is not good enough.
Worst number 9 we have ever had. Bar Diouf. Are we winning?

He was off for the 1st phase but on for the second phase where he was passed to and tapped in.Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostWenger is complaining that both goals were offside, I think Suarez's leg was a bit off in the first goal, but in the second one I think was on right?

Not a fan then?Originally posted by Daniel 7 View PostCarroll isn't good enough. He has no anticipation, he has no dynamism. Apparently he was supposed to be a big, bustling British CF, old school. He seemed to spend most of his time moaning or on his arse. His first touch his dreadful. Apart from Diouf, on what he's shown, he is the worst we have had up top in a long, long time.
I don't even think he has a Heskey type game in him. His pace seems non existent, his overall game play is lacking, he isn't making runs to make space for others and the way we look for him at every set piece is like something Bolton would do with Kevin Davies ( I would also argue he seems a more complete player). For £35m we have signed a rudimentary player with no finesse, touch or skill. He's a massive let down and a massive downgrade on anything we have had for years.I have one word to offer - honesty. I couldn't be devious if I tried. Joe Fagan.

Every time the only tactic was to hit it high for his head. hit a corner long and deep for Carroll's head. He hasn't even (apart from one header in the first half) shown that he is that great in the air when he has played for us! He offers nothing. Championship player who looks out of his depth.
Crouch is ten times the player he is.

I think has potential, but right now he doesn't offer enough to add to either attacking or defending.Originally posted by NigelLG View PostIt's because his movement isn't very good, he needs to do better. We spent tons of money trying to bring players to get the best out of him but we cannot blame them today for his lack of productivity.
Enrique, Downing and Adam try to set him up more than few times and he was no where to be found as he is positionally weak.
Except one header he was none factor today. Needs to up his game quickly as he can be such a weapon if he improves in that area.Last edited by Mostar; 20-08-11, 03:45 PM.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

Just got home and though the result was great we were still shaky.
Carroll needs to fight for his place so a 'good' striker is needed ASAP.
The midfield did better today and won a lot of challenges well - as did the backs.
I know the wet did not help but I have to wonder whether them losing a man was necessary for the result.
Time will tell - but **** it, got a result..!Last edited by Icon; 20-08-11, 03:49 PM.

Not many teams will go the the Emirates and have more posession than the home team. What were you expecting, 5 up by half time?Originally posted by DeanoUK View PostGot to agree with Mostar, and disagree with RedReets discussion of our 'negative' match thread.
The reason it was negative was that, largely, until the subs came on, we had a pretty crap game.
You know, it's ok to be critical, even if we're fans. Otherwise they'd be little discussion on here!
I said before the match that our game plan should be to contain Arsenal for 60 minutes, then bring Suarez on and go for the win. We did that much better than I expected and got a deserved result.
Again, I hate to keep going on about it, but their 3 forwards barely had a kick all game and our players deserve full credit for this.
Originally posted by DeanoUK View PostSorry mate, I gotta disagree with this too. We certainly controlled more in the second half, and very much so in the last quater, but we were mostly spectators in the first half.
Again, we had more posession in the first half and the only two decent shots on target. Henderson should have did better for his. The only thing of note I can remember from Arsenal in the first half is the shot from Nasri.
Arsenal were the home team, but you'd never have known from watching that match. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
