At the very least though, I don't believe that Suarez' career path is defined by how much money he gets offered (within reason obviously)...........we could be paying him 150k, but if we're not competing and an Spanish opportunity arises, he'll follow his path.
I agree with being competitive and playing in CL is of great importance to top players but compensation is equally important.

He is one of the best players in PL and speculations are that he is on 70k per week contract which imo should be changed as we have to demonstrate that rewards come with good performances especially if we realistically want him to keep him more than 18 months.

Everything he has done since he has come was top class.

From his performances on the pitch to his willingness to integrate himself into the community.

We should consider ourselves very lucky to have a world class player on our hands and we should do everything we can to keep him and that starts with matching his skill level with the proper pay structure.

Let's not give him an excuse to leave for that reason in summer.

The problem is that if you offer a player that kind of money then there is a big chance other players also want higher wages. City is a good example of that.

They had no choice at the start to offer fantasy money in wages to be able to attract top class players. Now if they want a top class player then he will demand top class OTT wages because other players have it at the club. So they still don't have a choice if they want a top class player signed up. Top class players at City get paid around £200k a week and that means that is at least what they need to pay to get a new top class player signed up.

It is a moment 22 situation.

If we offer Suarez £150k a week then we must be prepared that if we want a top class player then he will demand the same kind of wages.

That is why we must increase our income and need a new stadium before we do that.

              Not necessarily.

We will never be Cityh nor I want us to be them in that regard but the pay structure should be based on performance and should be adjust if there is enough merits to do so.

No one really knew how well and how long it will take him to hit the ground running in PL and on that basis 70k per week was certainly good compensation at that time.

Now that he clearly demonstrated that he is one of the best with Rooney and Kun in this league we should revisit his pay structure and pay him accordingly.

In terms of other players on our squad our overall payroll is still one of the highest but we are all over the map in terms of match between skills and compensation but I do expect that to move to the level it should over time.

Absolutely no need for a new contract yet, he's got 7 league goals for us and hasnt been here a year. He'll get one soon enough, probably start talking in the summer or something but right now is a little soon.

                  I disagree.

His impact since he got here was tremendous. He scored 5 goals and 4 assist in 13 games he played last season and so far he scored 4 goals and 3 assists in 6 games so clearly the quality is there.

Also not only that he was our best player in the second part of the season he also was The Best Player of Copa America this summer and he is clearly on the best players in PL together with Rooney and Kun.

Imo if we wait until the end of the season to renew his contract I think it may be too late.

A new stadium is not simply going to guarantee higher income levels, it has to be payed for somehow.
It will guarantee higher income, and as such, will pay for itself.

The 15k extra seats is something that gets focused on a lot, but the real money will be in corporate hospitality, boxes and suchlike.

At the moment, only one side of Anfield has corporate facilities - at Arsenal, they go all the way round the stadium.

I seem to remember (might be slightly wrong with the exact numbers) that an executive box was priced at £75k for one season. If you have 10 of those sold, that's £750k per season.

If you have a facility where you can have 100 of them, then suddenly you're increasing revenues enormously.

                    This is just one example.

If he kicks off about a new contract 9/10 months in to his Liverpool career then that says more about him than us. But he wont do that.

I'm not denying his quality. He's clearly brilliant, just dont see the need to give out new contracts for 6 months of form. He'll get one soon enough, no need right now though and he feels the same judging by those English lessons.

I definitely don't think he would do that (he's better than that) but I do think we should do it and demonstrate to him and other players that the hard work and good performance on the pitch doesn't go unnoticed.

Imo it would be the right and definitely smart thing to do and it would solidify his belief and loyalty to LFC.

He's a world class footballer and we need to make sure that we do everything on our end to keep him here and the proper acknowledgement of his skills in money terms would be the first step.

Somebody was saying on the anfield wrap the other day that we are struggling to fill Corporate Hospitality boxes the way it is so they'd rather see an increase in seats instead of corporate boxes.

Don't know whether there's any truth in that.

That wouldnt surprise me actually, given the state of the economy.

Not so sure how many firms would consider it a worthwhile expense at this moment in time.
