Everyone has flaws. The media spotlight expands those flaws as the balloon of your public interest inflates. Very few people are as bad as their media-exposed flaws suggest. But Kenny has not in any way figured out how to portray the present situation positively and all that is left mediawise is an angry man stubbornly standing by a player - who plays for a team trading on history not success - banned for racial abuse and compounding it when given a media-based opportunity to make amends.Originally posted by NigelLG View PostNo idea. Sick of all of this. Sad to see Kenny getting **** from all quarters from standing by his player. It's been an awful day.Felching ≠ Gerbilling

What sort of a ****ed up situation is this when about the most sense in the whole thing is spoken by sodding Wayne Rooney?
As for all the talking heads giving it "shock" and "horror" over the handshake thing... ffs, talk about over dramatising. You'd think Suarez had spat on Evra or something.
Oh, and Gordon Taylor & the PFA can **** right off

I totally agree. Who cares if they didnt shake hands. The guys dont like each other. Its not a story, nor is it one that demands so much attention.Originally posted by ChesterDave View PostJust reading some of the stuff on Twitter.

Im from Australia and its even getting news here.
Its liverpool v united FFS, the players are not meant to like one another! Is it a big surprise that they didnt shake hands?
The media wanted a story that didnt have anything to do with the game and they got one. Although somehow Frans not shaking hands with Luis isnt quite news worthy.
Kenny could have performed better in the after match interview, he had an opportunity to turn this back around to the media and put it all on them. He attempted to do this but he was missing his usual whit which he needed in this case.
As for Fergie's comments, one again just stirring the pot with a well timed media stunt when it suits him. Saying Luis shouldnt play for the club again is just a kick while LFC is down and the media are wanting to listen.
Things could have been worse, Luis could have kicked a fan in the chest!Last edited by jynormous; 12-02-12, 01:58 AM.

Seems pretty clear to me that it was Suarez refusing to shake Evra's hand. Not sure how anyone could see it the other way around.Originally posted by saj View Post

I am more concern about our inability to get into top 4 as that may be more the reason to see him go but if the club is able to improve in the summer and truly make us more competitive he'll stay and be the player that all know he can be.
The club will survive and focus on Luis/Evra situation will fade away as the saga is over and we will not meet the cunts until next year.

Suarez is very talented player, but the way I see it, he has let us down. He put the club and Kenny in a really bad position yesterday.
He should have shaken Evra's hand. I don't care how false it was. He should have shaken it, looked Evra in the eyea and called him a tosser. He should have kicked him into row Z during the game and then he should have shaken his hand again at the end.
Suarez needs to understand how modern footballers need to be seen to be whiter than white. The club needs to support him all the way, but guide him more to stop exactly this sort of situation.I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.

Have you always shaken the hand of a person you don't like, I know I have not. I'm proud of what Suarez done today. He made a stand against the scum. The FA screwed up they let the handshake for Terry but not Suarez thats the disgrace. I hope when we play them again Suarez refuses again.Originally posted by nebbers View PostSuarez is very talented player, but the way I see it, he has let us down. I'm not a lawyer but my understanding is that racial abuse in England and Wales is a criminal offence carrying a fine and possible imprisonment. That's the charge and potential punishment facing John Terry. However to be found guilty of the offence he will need to be found guilty beyond reasonable doubt in a formal court.
For charges of racial abuse to be brought, the Crown Prosecution Service need be convinced that based on the evidence available, from a police investigation, there is a reasonable chance that a court would convict. I believe that on average about 80% of cases taken forward by the CPS end up with the defendant being found guilty of the charge.
In the case of Suarez the CPS and police have not sought to bring charges or to pursue a case against Suarez. Therefore without question, based on the laws of England and Wales, Suarez is a completely innocent man and has not committed any offence relating to racial abuse.
He has been found guilty by the FA of breaking their rules. I won't go into the details of the FA decision just emphasise that the FA's decision does not mean that, according to the law in England and Wales, Suarez is guilty of racial abuse.
In relation to the FA disciplinary process there are probably two key points to note; 1) a parliamentary select committee has said that it believes the FA disciplinary process lacks independence and they have asked the FA to review it, saying they will look into it further in due course, 2) in 2005 the Barrister's disciplinary process was similar to the FA's and was found to breach the human rights of some individuals it found against. They were forced to make their process more independent.
LFC are now in a predicament. They know that legally Suarez is an innocent man. LFC management and team also believe Suarez's version of events over Evra's. I'm sure LFC would like to put the whole matter to bed as quickly as possible however it's currently out of their control.
It's all blown up again after Suarez and Evra did not shake hands yesterday. The media generally have determined that Suarez refused to shake the hand of Evra. The video evidence I've seen is not so categorical, Evra certainly withdrew his hand from the position he held it in for other players.
LFC is being urged from all quarters to criticise Suarez. Having openly supported Suarez to this point I think there will be serious repercussions if LFC now abandon their support of him. If they do then in my opinion he will leave LFC. That isn't what anyone associated with LFC wants. However I believe there is an even bigger issue than that. If LFC withdraw their support for Suarez they will fracture the team which will affect performances this season and probably lead to other key players wanting out.
LFC are in this position as a result of the flawed FA process that is seen by many to have found, what legally is an an innocent man, guilty of a serious criminal offence.
