Suárez is not the first footballer in English football to court such controversy and generate such negative headlines, however, and he is unlikely to be the last.Suárez is not the first footballer in English football to court such controversy and generate such negative headlines, however, and he is unlikely to be the last.
Hansen is right here, and i'm certain this WILL all blow over, why, because of the fickle nature of fans.

Sure we'll get abuse from the places we usually do, and have done for deacdes, but the rest....will just fade away back to their little self important worlds.

Just a few words on the matter, and not sure they are the most popular.

First of all it's ridiculous that a handshake (or the lack of) between two adults behaving like children have become so much of an issue (in England). Get on with it, it's hardly like it has anything to do with football, or that it's the most pressing issue in the world right now.

Secondly, our club have handled this in an incredible poor manner. This whole issue could have been stopped long ago if we just accepted the verdict without making strange official statements, getting players out in Suarez shirts and so on. The issue would have died before this game. We could just have sucked it up, and not given the press a field day. Now it's so sensisitive that even a handshake can cause a row. That IMO is how we should have handled it, getting the issue layed to rest as quickly as possible and move on with our footballing.

Secondly if we didn't want to do that because it was deemed a principal issue throughout the club, then we should have stuck with it and fought it through the entire system - but we didn't. We started something we didn't want to finish and that's the main reason the press are having a field day on us.

Considering how all things have developed because the whole organization have behaved unproffesional and not in line, the best thing we could do after Saturday was to give an apology and move on. We don't need this to continue.

This whole issue along a series of other off field issues we as supporters have had to endure the last 4-5 years, is just draining the fun out of football. Let's get back to the on pitch action and leave this where it should be - as a non-issue in the first place.

The most frustrating thing for me has been the way that the club has handled this, we have made some poor decisions and been inconsistent with the way we have done things. There seems to have been little or no communication between parties on some issues, and we have been unprofessional at times. This is disappointing as I had hoped we would have out all this behind us when the new owners came in.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Cannot believe Suarez was so selfish - what a pr1ck. Detracted from the football and what was a very winnable game, after all the fans have done for him. Is dragging this club down with him and makes me feel sick to my stomach the whole thing. Am wondering whether Liverpool is better off without this guy, football included.

Daglish's post match antics were crap too. He may not have known what happened but there's a very slim chance of that.

Then the fact they both came out and apologised yesterday - what a disgrace. I'm ashamed.

Sorry that is bollocks, Luis did what he felt was right, Ferguscum is a ****in tool trying to drive him out of england; i despise the man. Kenny was stitched up again by a Fergie cronie. I suggest you read the Tompkins piece on this issue. Spells it out completley for me

Sorry, but Suarez took it on himself, no matter what Ferguson said or what Tompkins wrote.

If you disapprove so much of Suarez and Kenny's behaviour, why do you think it's a disgrace for them to apologise?

Have the owners released a statement? Sure I heard something on the radio this morning but couldn't find anything on here..

Theres really only 2 things the owners can do to get the racism stain to slowly go away, and I think at the end of the season it'll be the selling of suarez and replacing Dalglish. I wouldnt argue with either to be honest. Every game the chant of 'racist *******' will be heard and Dalglish will keep being referred to as KKKenny. Football fans are not fickle when it comes to mocking other teams. They'll keep it up for years. And seeing as we have American owners and they care plenty about how the team is viewed back in their home land, I expect these two things to happen. I'm looking forward to this season ending because I'm getting to the point where I'm wondering why I even follow this sport anymore. Being a liverpool fan since the late 90s has been taxing. Its like one bad thing after another, like the club is cursed. A bright spot here and there doesnt change it.

Which would look terribly like... 'racist manager and player sacked/pushed out!'

I certainly wouldn't advocate doing anything so drastic.

This ****e will pass, just as Rooney's two affairs have, like Giggs injunction and disgrcaeful behaviour, like so many other true misdemeaners that players have committed.

                        It's football.

Imagine you'd been subject to allegations that you made a racist comment at somebody - an allegation that stopped you doing the job you loved and dragged your name through the mud - would you want to shake that persons hand?

Say that you thought you *would* shake his hand and rise above it and when that moment came, his hand lowered and he invited you in to his body, in a split-second, you thought he was retracting his hand or a mischief was going to take place - do you grab his had regardless?

Yeah, on reflection the passionate post match interview was unfortunate.

No offence, but **** that. We've got a game to get in the quarters of the FA Cup, the League Cup final and a league where nobody wants to take ownership of a battle for fourth.

There's plenty of fight left for the rest of the season, regardless of what is written in a gutter press.

Its no different to having the press and people say Liverpool advocate racism by keeping suarez and the manager who backed him, since thats what managers do with their players. Rooney and Giggs are different as they are part of a team that wins seasons regularly over the past 20 years and have a manager whos almost untouchable because of all the awards he's won. They're also on form still. Its also not in the same class as racism.

Unfortunately when it comes to racism it goes more then just football. I wish it didnt but thats how it goes. Racism is the ultimate destructive force in anything.
