FA charges were always inevitable IMO, it's still up to the FA to provide evidence before he can be punished.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Yep and actually lets say we beleive there really is no case to answer we would want it to go down as many official channels as possible because after all is said and done, if he can not substantiate his claims beyond reasonable doubt he will have to be charged with making frivolous damaging claims. If Ferguson is up to his usual tricks creating drama to deflect attention from piss poor team selection, attitude and performance than he should bare the just rewards of his poison fruit.

If I thought for one moment Suarez was a racist and was calling him ******, the matter and he would have to be dealt with. But I honestly 100% feel he was winding him up with femine and being little jabs ... you could see it the way he was interacting with him, patting him on the head, getting up close to him looking down his nose at him, calling Niggereto or what ever it is suggested, half the team him captained in Ajax were black, I dont for one moment think Louis Suarez is a racist, John Terry on the other hand could easily pass for a National Front leader

Unless there is clear TV evidence recording what was said between the two when the supposed incident occured, and this shows that Suarez said nothing and Evra was making it all up, there is is no way Evra will be charged. I would imagine that there would insufficent evidence to find either of them guilty.

I know this might go down like Sepp's recent comments and there will be a certain irony with my forum name but...

Does modern society go a bit overboard with this level of racism these days? Now, of course I know its disgusting and wrong and that the n word has connections with many years of oppression, slavery and worse, but slavery died out decades ago and huge steps have been made since. Yes, of course there are still pockets of racism (which does go both ways) but at the end of the day, players like Evra and Ferdinand are far more detached from oppression and slavery than the likes of us. To me its a word, a derogatory word yes (when said in context) but nothing more than that. Anyone who's been through a normal upbringing can take a derogatory word thrown at them on the chin and move on. I used to work with a few asian guys who were incredibly racist but it was all talk, they were alright with me (I'd have the odd comment but didn't take it to heart) but you never felt part of the group because of the talk but it was ok. Words. Thats all.

There's an argument that it needs to be taken seriously to make sure it doesn't creep back into the game to the levels we've seen previously, which I can agree with, but it just seems to me that Evra's let himself go ballistic over this and throw his toys out of the pram like a child.

I don't know, I'll probably have to step down like Blatter now, but the point is, if (and it has happened) I was on the recieving end of some verbal racism, it wouldn't even raise my eyebrow. Maybe my beliefs allow me to react in this way, but I find it incredible that grown men can be that lame that they reacct in this way (Evra and Suarez if guilty).

Being in primary school getting Called a wog after being shown a program that contained that exact word in school. Telling the head teacher about it after getting Into a fight and then being punished for it by being made to stand outside her room for playtime/breaktime.

Its a complex issue that has many layers, its too easy for someone who in reality probably has not experience true racism on a ongoing basis to ask the question hey are we all going a little overboard here, I do take you sentience and I know you are not belittling the subject but I would say no, no in 2011 we should stamp out discrimination, racism, sexism were ever we find it, in the early 90s I came face to face with a pub full of Racist remarks being Irish in a English pub after they just got spanked in some international and it was not a nice feeling at all. Theres no excuse for it ever, and if you use it your parents have failed you badly

I'm not throwing kak, I agree with part of his reaction, but I also know that there are examples of anti white racism which goes further than he seems to have experienced. A little before the Lawrence case there were a few asians who kidnapped a lad and murdered him in a racist attack but it never received much coverage. To say "what would white people know about racism", ask that lads parents.

Evra said himself that he saw the evidence on tv. Where is that evidence then?
                            Are we winning?

Is it? The fact also that someone like me couldn't really turn around and call the other person a white such n such as there would be other people standing there ,who might be decent and would take offence, as a kid, that thought did cross my mind.

You have no idea what racial abuse can do to a person.
I was alone v many. Did grow up not liking white people at one point when I was young. My two best mates were from same background as me.

Racism is totally unacceptable. But I agree in many ways with the post above (and have some sympathy with what Blatter was trying to say), in the heat and stress of a game things will be said that in other circumstances wouldn't.
As an analogy my wife in an argument with me will call me a *******. She knows I'm not illegitimate and wouldn't care if I was, it's just an expression out of stress and frustration. Similar situations will occur in games.
Racism is unacceptable but we must be careful not to confuse meaningless expressions with bias, oppression etc that are the unacceptable characteristics of racism.
