I would play both of them against Stoke. If they deliver then keep playing them. We don't play enough games to bed any player in. If he only play cup games then he won't be match fit when he plays.

Agger is the only central defender that have earned the right to play.

Play Coates or loan him out. He need to play to stay match fit.

I'm not saying he'll come in and be fault free, but at the moment I can't see him being worse than Carragher or Skrtel (who to be fair, isn't doing too bad this season). Coates is the future, we've spent a fair whack on him and he's played at a very, very decent level for the last two years.

There's your 2 fundamental stats, you can't allow the opposition 10 shots at goal and not expect them to score at this level, you also can't afford to only take 1 goal from 15 attempts and then expect to win because the majority of the time you won't. Both the defense and attack needs to improve to solve the errors, what do u want Kenny to do about it?

Kit up and sub himself on to show them how it's done?

In this situation, the buck stops with the players and they will be the first to admit so.
If he picks the wrong players or puts them in the wrong positions, that's his fault.

          Carroll shouldve started
          Spearing shouldve started
Downing should play on the left - his actual position
          Agger should've started
          Kelly shouldve started

So there's a few things Kenny got wrong IMO.

As for allowing 10 shots - that's largely because we backed offend didn't press, which Kenny shoulve addressed.

Agree with Arn & Lee, Coates is an established international with a strong nation, I'm sure he can manage to play for us.

Its pretty obvious its Agger, he played all last season under Kenny when he was fit and he started this season in the team with Skrtel on the bench.

The point I was trying to make, was that if we took a reasonable amount of our opportunities we should have had at least 3 goals and nobody says a word about dalglish, but the PLAYERS did not do that.

Downing can play without having Carroll on the field, he doesn't need big andy to hold his hand, the idea of downing crossing to Carroll is romanticized and blown out of proportion, it's just one of many tactics the players have the ability to execute.

I agree that I don't think gerrard should have started besides Adam, but it's all to easy to criticize in hindsight. Aggrr was not fit enough, he obviously came to that conclusion and he is in the best position to make it.
Glen Johnson did not have a shocker so I don't think you can definitively say Kelly would have done better, I'm a martin Kelly fan but I still think glen is 1st choice at right back so I don't think dalglish made a mistake in starting him.

I too would have liked to see Carroll start but the bottom line is everybody in that team is or has been a fully capped international (except enrique?)most with decent footballing nations, this proves they all have the ability to beat every one of their opposites with Norwich, but they did not perform.

You can say what you want about kennys decisions but the team and formation he fielded against Norwich was more than capable of winning that game.

And maybe if Kenny had done things differently, there may have been players out there who WOULD have converted those chances...

I doubt that, the players left out certainly arent prolific scorers

Dont think there was to much wrong with the starting line up or subs. Game should have been over after 10mins or won in stoppage time, whatever. Think Maxi should be used more though, a good flat track bully, ideal for games like that.

Suarez could have scored 6,7 easily.

And giving him just 10 minutes to make an impression when looking for a winner seemed strange to me.
He was pushed by Hoolahan at the last second so he had to bend his body to get the contact with the ball (as the ball was behind him due to a push).

To me he did the best he could under the circumstances.

No matter the mitigating circumstances, he has to score from there. Or at least hit the target. He knew it. You could see immediately after the miss and after the whistle went, he had his head down and was continually berating himself as he walked off.
