I know mate, I felt awfully filthy typing that. A win but with a good handfull of sendings off would be ideal.

That would do me, especially if we can beat Spurs.

But i'm not so sure we will, pity we didn't have an easier game, but assuming we win, i'd take cutting the gap from four points to two on the Chavs.

Especially if it went that they were totally ****e, but fluked a point with a 0-0, with morale still effected.

We're still in with a good shout for 4th. Arse and Chavs have harder fixtures than ours, at least on paper. Added to that, they've both still got the distraction of the Champions League and we play them both at Anfield.

Its still ours to **** up IMO.

So long as none of our players heads are already at Wembley.

Fortunately that is never going to happen. I'd be surprised if either of them progress into the next round

I think there is more chance of us wining the league than that happening...
Thanks for the memories Rafa - YNWA!

Nothing but getting back in the Champions league is good enough. The cups are nice but they don't make up for the lack of CL. We got close to the CL last season, in the league a 6th place finish couldn't be considered a success, we have spent big, finishing in the same position when the teams above us are not as strong as last year would be far from good enough.

                  - they've past us now, it's gone - and we aren't going to catch them by finishing outside the top 4 every season.

i'd rather United finished 1st and we finished 4th, than City finishing 1st and and we finished 5th

I really do believe that Champions league is vital for us to get back amongst challenging. - Finish 4th, it secures us more money, makes us more attractive to new players etc

finishing outside the top 4 would make it a bit more difficult.

I'd be buzzing if we won the carling cup and somehow scraped 4th!! - keep the squad we have, and build on it by adding a top class box to box midfielder, a creative/pacy wide man and a goal scorer and with a bit of luck and the right calibre of players signing and settling well and we could be back in the hunt once more.

That's a given imo, Lfc comes before any rivalry with utd.

I just think that 4th place won't be dependant on this one fixture, unless we lose, my biggest worry is not who win's this game v chavs and scum..but us getting 3 points off Spurs.

If we get the 3 points, i'd a take a draw in utd/chav game, but if we lose..then UTD have to win.

Us finishing 4th would be the best outcome for the league I think.

United and City are both going to be up there next season and are both likely to spend, United to finally buy a decent CM and City well..

Tottenham have came on leaps and bounds, if they can bring someone in up top or even keep hold of Adebayor then I can still see them pushing for 4th even with the Champions League distraction.

We would have money to spend and be able to attract players of a higher calibre as well as Suarez, Lucas and maybe Stevie fit from the off.

Chelsea are going to spend big this summer regardless IMO in fact if they finish outside the top 4 I think they may do even more so.

Arsenal are Arsenal, don't usually spend much but finishing 6th might tempt them into it, they're always there or there about.

Winning cups would be great no doubts but i would take 4th place and no cups in a heart beat. It is absolutely vital to be in the champs league spots come the end of the season an for us to progress as a club and be back in that top tier where we belong.

I don't know if we have the consistency needed to make the 4th spot. Sure Chelsea and Arsenal have been erratic as well but Chelsea are still 4 points ahead of us and we have some really tough fixtures over the next month or so.

On the positive side of things, Suarez is back, Carroll scored and has looked bit hungrier than previous, Kuyt has found a bit of form, Spearing is back (never thought i'd be as happy) Gerrard is hopefully nearing full match fitness (hopefully only a niggling injury) & we've had a cracking week for the club. It is a pity that we have 2 incredibly difficult league games back to back, but if we want to make those champs league spots we have to getting something out of these 2 games.

Winning both of these games is a massive ask, not that we aren't capable but it is a huge ask. 4 points for me would be fantastic. 3 points from the two games wouldn't be the end of the world providing results elsewhere went our way.

P.S. The reception that Suarez will get at Old Trafford IMO will be one of the most hostile receptions anyone has ever seen, the only way to shut the mancs up to for him to have a blinder or score. He is in for a very uncomfortable and emotional day, needs all the support from LFC fans he can get!

FFP is now in force so City and Chelsea will not be spending big this summer, a few squad players perhaps but nothing like recent seasons. Chelsea yesterday announced losses of 67 million for the past year and City recently made losses of just under 200 million for 2010 IIRC. I'd imagine both those clubs will be focusing on sorting out their books rather than spending big.

I don't think it'll play as big a part this season as many do.. I think clubs will be focusing on finding a way around it. Didn't city sell their stadium name for a ridiculous amount?

They couldn't create a hostile reception, even if they handed out 80,000 machine guns before the game

I hope they disgrace themselves.. But even then no doubt the media would look the other way.
