2 cups is great but the bigger picture is the champs league.

Once you're in the champs league it is easier to attract better/bigger names, which in turn help you domestically. We are on a slow build, but still realistically within grasp of a 4th spot finish. IMO 2 cups now pales in comparison to what the champs league opens up for us as a club.

Both would be nice, but i desperately want to see us back where we belong along, at the top tier up with the big boys. 2 domestic cups for me is nothing compared to that.

P.S. Can you explain this comment: "This is just everything thats wrong with football at the minute"?

It's just crap the way it's gone that some fans see trophys as ok or nice while finishing 4th, 20-30 points behind the leaders with what is not even a guarantee of more than 2 qualifying games as a reward is seen as a great season!

Just meant it generally not at you. Winning stuff and getting to finals are your best days/nights as a fan not getting £30m in the clubs coffers then getting tanked by Barca next season. I get the argument about future money, attracting better players which in turn increases trophy chances etc but that comes with no guarantees the money will be spent right or the right players are suddenly out there and willing to come. And you could easily argue that winning breeds winning and would be far better for our current group than finishing 4th and winning nothing.

But it shouldnt be about one or the other anyway, we are capable of doing both.

Fair points and i do understand where you're coming from.

For me, for LFC as a club it's vital to get back into the champions league. There's no guarantees that we'll buy the right players or that we won't get smashed by likes of Barca or Real, but at least we'd get the opportunity. And who knows maybe we will buy the right players and that in turn could push us towards a title challenge & domestic success aswell.

But yup i agree, we are most certainly capable of winning 1 or even 2 cups and also qualifying for the champs league

In 2000-2001, we won the treble and came third in the league, securing a spot in the Champions League.

No need to debate about which is more important.

World of difference between an established PL club playing on home soil and one which has never been there playing at a neutral venue.

if i ever said "we've basically already won a trophy," i'd be terrified that i'd just put a serious indian sign over the final match.

that being said, we can still win 2 cups and finish 4th this season. since our season is sometimes over by christmas, it's still happy days. hoping for a three-fer.

                  3rd place. Worst champions ever.

I hear what you're saying but come on, deep down, does anyone here think for a moment that we wont beat Cardiff? Be honest now.

We've had experience of making it hard work against Birmingham (2001) and West Ham (2006).

Did anyone really believe Birmingham were going to beat Arsenal in the last one.

All the pressure will be on us in the final, they'll know that everybody will expect them to lose. I wouldn't get too complacent -we could easily finish the season without a trophy and in 7th place or worse!
