Fact of the matter is no matter what system you employ you have to A) create chances and B) put those chances away

Under Rafa we struggled at times with creating chances against lesser teams, under Kenny we have struggled to convert those chances that we have created

Against Chelsea we probably created far less chances than we did in any of the Norwich, Stoke & Swansea games and yet we took those chances and won

To be fair you would have it as a bare minimum of creating more chances against those teams than Chelsea. Thought the chances we scored against Chelsea were better than those we made in previous games. Against Stoke we only really opened them up once though (and we really should have scored that one)

Do we mark zonally or man to man for set pieces nowadays?
          Oh I don't know.

We've created way more clear cut chances in those games I mentioned

              For example V Stoke

We had the Henderson chance, the Adam chance(s) and Suarez had a great chance near the end

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Can't agree with that. We totally dominated the games against the lesser teams and created ton of chances. You sat there watching wondering how we could miss yet another sitter.

In almost every game against them we won the shot on goals with something like 30-5 at home and had a clear advantage in the away games. Look at the stats you will see the evidence.

The key point is that we created chances but struggled to score on them even that we scored the most goals in the league.

We dominated possession and controlled games with Rafa

Our problem was in the final third

1 season out of 6 we scored a lot of goals, the rest of the time we struggled badly in the final third despite having the lions share of possession

Perhaps if Kenny is given 6 seasons (instead of 10 months) we will see the level of improvement in our finishing that we saw in that 1 season under Rafa

We always seem to have a problem with team who park the bus, one more player like Luis should go along way towards solving most of our problems. Hopefully, and most likely, we'll add some authentic quality to the side in the summer at least.

Fair point, didn't think about that. Although how long does it take to shake, did he not get back pretty early?

To be fair, the season Rafa actually changed to 4231 we scored a lot of goals for the last few months of the season and continued that into the 08/09season.

We actually started of his last season scoring quite freely too, but couldn't get the balance right and conceded too much.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I’m probably just making excuses because we expect him to be MOTM every game, but he definitely wasn’t at his best.
he looked a bit hesitant and his legs looked zapped, usually he's so direct. Even though he didn't play well, he still caused mayhem. Hopefully we don't burn him out.
