Lucas was out of this world, Pepe on his toes and Johnson was very good too, along with Enrique who gets better and better. Suarez a little quiet by his usual standards, Kuyt full of energy but not really quality. Adam growing into his stature at the club all the while, but Downing poor for me. Henderson had a good game, promising development.

Feel for big Andy, 8 minutes and almost wins it for us. One wonders what he could have done with a half hour cameo.

Disappointing not to win, but the consistency in our performances will bode well.

    Onward.
I agree with most of this

I thought he was below his usual high standards today, a bit sloppy in possession and nearly gifted a chance to Augero

You can handle the odd off day from him when he is normally so good

I know that some things are bigger than football and of course the tragic events of today are indeed one example, but yes, i think losing Bellamy today was a big miss, he would've made things happen in a way Downing was never looking like doing.

I was really really impressed with Johnson's defensive game today again, i cant see how people say he cant defend, 2 brilliant defensive displays now. Glenboy is growing on me.

To be fair, you have a point and i think my fond memories of his performance today are probably mostly related to his contributions going forward, where he was excellent & gave Downing a bit of a tutorial in the things a winger should do.

Solid as a rock both this week and last, and both against high quality opposition.

He's had his moments but since he came back in the side, his defensive game has been pretty much faultless.

You can hear Mancini talking to Mario and the loud bang sound.

Later on Mancini was reported saying that "If Mario damaged the door, he'll pay as he paid for his house" something along those lines

Sky reporting that Anfield away dressing-room door damaged after shouts of "Mario, Mario'' inside room. Unhinged?

Yes hes stepped it up a level but I thought some of the criticism was way over the top previously

You have to remember two weeks ago people were calling for Adam to be dropped and Kenny to be gone also

I think this is the problem here its always black and white no shades of grey
Kenny to be sacked was clearly OTT but Adam's performances in the past ,prior to last few weeks, were not at par and I personally didn't see anything wrong with thinking that he should be dropped.

Glad that didn't happen as he proved that he can play at this level and for the club of this magnitude.

We'll have to see if he can do this regularly but his play against City and Chelsea left a very strong impression and he was one of the best on the pitch.

Aye. Lec, you can't really complain about people being too black & white in their viewpoints then lump people who wanted to bench Adam (often whilst admitting he still had a role at LFC) with the 1 or 2 calling for Kenny's head.
                          3rd place. Worst champions ever.

I didnt think he was that bad even in the early part of the season

I keep on saying this but I dont think there has been much drastically wrong with our general play all season

My few thoughts from the game yesterday:

We really deserved a win yesterday and much more so than we did against Chelsea, but that's football for you. In the end it's better we took the 3 points from Chelsea considering fourth position.

We where the better team for most of the game, and City IMO only really had the middle of the first half in control. It's the first game this season I have seen City being on their toes for most of the game, and it's a big credit for the team.

Man of the match can only be Joe Hart for his 3-4 times pulling of amazing saves on the line, he has developed in to a very good keeper now. Without him we would have won the game as we deserved to.

Our entire team played well yesterday, but special mentions to Agger (simply the best CD in the premiership when in form), and the rest of the back chain did well against perhaps the best attacking side in the PL right now. My only slight dissapointments yesterday where Kuyt and Henderson, to many of our attacks stopped with them on the right side, but further back they both delivered at the level of the rest.

If we can keep playing like this, getting the amount of chances we are currently we stand a very good chance of fourth, and if we get in a clinical striker in January we will be looking as good as any of our contenders for the spot.

Coming with this in to December and a relatively fresh team considering no Europe, I reckon we can get a lot of points during the many games we have coming. The bit more tired legs of Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs can only serve to help us. Add to that we have a relatively easy programme bar the Newcastle game perhaps, and I think we have shaken of the rest of the pessimists by January
